The family of Amber Hill are ready for the last six shootout here in Deodoro.

How must her grandfather Bill be feeling? This is the man who got her started in shooting, there was a time when they faced off for money.

Did he ever think his protege would compete for Olympic medals?

Just 16 shots per athlete now, the top four will go into medal matches.

Amber Hill is facing off against some stellar talent. Kimberly Rhode of the USA could become the first athlete to win a medal on every continent. Diana Bacosi of Italy was in sparkling form this morning and looks supremely focused.

Awesome stuff. Incredible rally to start the breaker. Side to side, corner to corner. Eventually, Murray gets cute at the net to defeat a tireless Johnson.

    Murray 6-0 4-6 6-6 Johnson

Murray, his blue back to us, faces the considerable obstacle of a Steve Johnson that has been mildly inspired. It's 15-30, but Johnson twice passes the world number two. A forehand delivered with extra mustard is too much for Murray. Match-deciding breaker it is...

A shadow cast as Murray and Johnson do the dance of the squeaky shoes on this hard, green court. Murray, in clue and white, holds with out a great deal of fuss. Johnson must again serve to stay in it.

A tough start for Great Britain's Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis in the badminton men's doubles.

They led for much of the first end against Korean third seeds Kim Gi Jung Kim Sa Rang, but lost it 21-17.

They'll need to come from behind to win the group stage opener.

    Murray 6-0 4-6 5-5 Johnson

Apropros of nothing, the tennis ball boys are giants. They haven't had them out of the local primary school. Johnson, briefly pressured at 30-30, wriggles out of the tight spot and seals it when Murray is left in concrete. Extra games needed. If we get to 6-6, it's a tie-break.

A thrilled Monica Puig leaps up and down in celebration, the Puerto Rican thrilled to the point of tears after beating Czech Petra Kvitova in three sets to reach the Olympic singles final. Few would have picked the 22-year-old world number 34 for, at worst, a sliver medal here.

Puig will play Germany's Angelique Kerber or Madison Keys of the USA in the gold medal match.

Eventually, Murray holds. Fist-pumping his way to his chair, continuing as he sits down and takes a huge swig of something watery. Johnson must serve to stay in the match.

Spin from Murray, more than a government advisor. After what seems like an eternity, Johnson dumps it into the fish-catcher. Johnson, though, is still belting forehands to extend this game onwards...
