Kirani James makes that look incredibly easy, he is jogging and taking it all in and still breaks 45 seconds! Superb!

The good news for GB  is that Matt Hudson-Smith finishes third in 45.26. Safely through.

'Poor running'published at 01:36 British Summer Time 13 August 2016

    Athletics: Men's 400m heats

    Michael Johnson
Four-time Olympic gold medallist athlete on BBC One

The mistake from Martyn Rooney was made early in the race. He was not pushing down the back stretch and lost touch with the rest of the field.

You should not be able to accelerate in the last 100m of the 400m. That was poor running from him and he should know better. It is doubtful whether he will get through because of a massive mistake.

The men's doubles final has been an absolute epic but could it be about to come to an end?

Spain's Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez lead Romania's Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau 5-4 in the third set.

If they can break in the next game the Olympic crown is theirs.

Martyn Rooney's analysis of his 400m run was, unfortunately, unprintable. But it was pretty spot on.

To paraphrase, he ran like an idiot.
