    Men's 1500m freestyle final

Domination. Think Katie Ledecky in the 800m freestyle last night.

Gregorio Paltrinieri wasn't in a race with his fellow athletes there, he was in a race with the world record. Unfortunately he didn't manage it - missing out by just shy of three seconds with a 14.34.57 - but the gold medal will ease that disappointment.

Connor Jaeger claimed silver for America, with Italy's Gabriele Detti winning bronze, to ensure a happy night for his country all round.

Farah makes historypublished at 02:27 British Summer Time 14 August 2016

    Men's 10,000m

Mo Farah had to work hard but what a run!

In the final 100m he was under serious pressure from Paul Tanui of Kenya, but with a kick and a sprint he crosses the line first and wins gold.

Mo Farah makes history and becomes the first British athlete to win three Olympic gold medals on the track.

Greg Rutherford might have lost his Olympic title, but in one of the great long jump finals - in terms of drama if not distance - he proved his immense championship character with that last-round leap. Just two centimetres down on the jump that won his gold in London. He will be hurting now, but there will be satisfaction to follow.
