The rain is lashing down in Rio, it appeared from nowhere and Eilidh Doyle looks unconcerned as the runners take up their positions.

We know Eilidh Doyle has won some of the big races in the Diamond League, we know she is capable of going under 54 seconds and if any of the front three make a mistake, she has the potential to sneak a bronze.

    Gunnell still world class

If you're of a certain age - my age or older - then you'll be well familiar with the work of Sally Gunnell.

Olympic and world champion at this event, Gunnell won in Barcelona in 1992 and Stuttgart in 1993.

However, what is interesting is that her best time of 52.74 seconds is faster than the PB of every runner in tonight's final. At her peak, Gunnell would be favourite tonight.

The athletes are out on the track.
