As a 15-year-old, USA's Connor Fields scribbled on his parents' garage wall that he would become Olympic champion.

Now 23, he's come good on that promise by winning the men's final.

Jelle van Gorkom of the Netherlands claimed silver, with Colombia's Carlos Ramirez taking bronze on a photo finish with USA's Nick Long.

One of the horses you can be drawn on for modern pentathlon jumping is apparently a wizard over fences.

    I'm here all week.

Joe broke him right down. Dychko came out jabbing at the start but Joe broke him down.

We are going to call him steam-train Joe.

I am so happy for him. He has come from grassroots and is in the final. I am so happy

Maybe he just needs to warm up. He is like a steam train, he was flying at the end.

There are so many expressions I could use, none of them broadcastable. He absolute whizzed that. Dychko was brilliant in the first round but by the second round Joe changed it and pulled it round and we saw what we saw.

It is all about Joe's body punches. The headshots are not hurting either of them. Joe has to whack the body.

Keep throwing the bodies from body to head.

Leave no doubt in the judges mind, Joe.
