We have been told it is a rule where you cannot start running outside of the zone. Martyn Rooney had one foot outside of the line. Whether the judges had decided he had started running because of that, it would be incredibly harsh.

The interview was done before the DQ came through...
Martyn Rooney: "I want to celebrate this. I am so proud how we preformed. We had a tough draw, but the guys rose to the occasion. My last interview was terrible so I don't want to swear in this one. I think all our training is paying off."

Still not sure why GB have been disqualified - it could be that Martyn Rooney was standing in the wrong position when he took the baton for the last leg. It's very tight though. I wouldn't be surprised if this is appealed.

It has to have been a judge that decided he saw something somewhere that they decided was an infringement, but I just can't think what that could be.

Unmissable determination from Martyn Rooney - an anchor leg of 43.8 secs, a word with his three team-mates afterwards, a desire to make great amends for an individual performance that was nowhere near what he wanted.
I have never understood how 400m runners seem to clock such fast times in relays! That was a belting performance though, GB won in 2:58.88.

That's better guys! Much better. That means they have put themselves in the medal zone with that run.
Martyn Rooney ran 43.8 - why can't he do that in the individual?

Martyn Rooney anchors it home with a cracking last 150m, and he is very, very animated as he crosses the line, he's saluting Delanno Williams in fact.
Has that put GB into medal contention?
