A huge amount of unfinished business [for New Zealand].

I wonder if the emotion of the moment is more relief than anything else because if you play for New Zealand rugby in any guise, you are expected to be the best in the world.

In a nation where men's rugby dominates, this is so important for this women's team because they will now be the focus and will be inspiring kids left, right and centre to carry on with this great game.

Luke McCormack can leave here with his head held high.

Andy Cruz knows when he is fighting a really good fighter. He comes out a gear, he changes up a gear.

He's unbeaten now in something like 33-34 fight. I'm not saying he's untouchable, but that was a masterclass.

If you're listening thinking I'm exaggerating, I'm not! That's how good Andy Cruz is.

You have to feel for Luke McCormack.

10 years. Youth European. Youth world championships. Full world championships. Full European. Olympic qualifiers.

Maybe 20 major events - I doubt he's had a boxing lesson like this. Even when he's lost, that's what's probably shocking him. That's what he can't work out. At 26, he can't work out why he can't get near this guy after all these years.

That's the class, and that's the gap in class, that the Cubans build in their centre of excellence in Havana.

  5. Cruz progresses, McCormack outpublished at 10:19 British Summer Time 31 July 2021

    Men's lightweight last 16

Luke McCormack gave his all but in the end he had too much to do against a two-time world champion as Andy Cruz progresses to the quarter-finals.

A unanimous points win for gold favourite Cruz.

France fighting backpublished at 10:16 British Summer Time 31 July 2021

    New Zealand 19-12 France

New Zealand went into half time with a 14-point lead but a quick try and conversion after the restart pulls France back to 19-12. Not all over yet.

'Players often let go of their emotions'published at 10:14 British Summer Time 31 July 2021

    Men's singles bronze medal match

    Russell Fuller
Tennis commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Smashing a tennis racquet is nothing new. Players often let go of their emotions and can be very aggressive on the court.

But this habit Djokovic has of letting go the racquet - and today he hurtled it into the stands, to an area of no spectators - but again, it's something he does need to cut out of his game.

Once he got that out of his system he was putting more pressure on Carreno Busta but he wasn't able to retrieve the break of serve that cost him dear at the start of that deciding set.

  8. Work to do for McCormackpublished at 10:14 British Summer Time 31 July 2021

    Men's lightweight last 16

Reigning world champion Andy Cruz is boxing well and getting into his groove, putting some good shots together.

Luke McCormack improves as the second round goes on but once again not quite enough.

First round over and it is a close one, Andy Cruz probably edges it after a couple of good shots but Luke McCormack landed some good ones himself. Not much in it.

Next up in the boxing is Great Britain's Luke McCormack, who takes on Cuba's Andy Cruz for a place in the quarter-finals.

The 26-year-old's twin brother Pat has already guaranteed himself a medal in the welterweight division. I don't imagine Luke will be content to let Pat claim the family bragging rights.

All square at half-time in the first of the men's quarter finals.

Real Sociedad forward Mikel Oyarzabal thought he had given Spain the lead, following up a well weighted pass from the goal scorer Dani Olmo.

But the referee consulted VAR and he was ruled offside.

A shame as it was a cracking finish!

It looks like it's going to be a tense second half...

    Women's bronze medal match

    Jill Douglas
    Reporter on BBC TV

Some of these GB players have been here before, fourth is a tough place to be because you know you aren't going to be on the podium.

This is one of the sports where you win a bronze medal as opposed to taking a silver or a gold so you can see what it means to Fiji.

You have got to celebrate the way this Fijian team has come here, very inexperienced and taken a bronze medal.

    Swimming

Kathleen Dawson and Anna Hopkin, Olympic gold medallists for Great Britain, having been chatting to Dan Walker and Sam Quek about their triumph in the inaugural 4x100m mixed medley relay:

Kathleen Dawson: "Surreal, It's unbelievable what we've done. I couldn't have imagined it in my wildest dreams, honestly."

On her first-leg performance: "I'm not quite sure what actually happened. I usually try and go in streamlined, with arms above my head but they were kind of separated, I think. Maybe it was to do with having the two boys next to me.

"I think I managed to hold my ground at the end and put out a decent performance for the guys... and girl!"

Anna Hopkin: "My heart was going watching that back! For viewers it must have been exciting because the order just changes constantly and you don't really know who is going to get the medals until right at the end. I think it feels more real now having watched it back."
