Warrington strike first through second-rower Jack Hughes.

Kevin Brown's kick goes out on the full and Warrington start their first attacking set 35 metres out. Hughes breaks the line and coasts over the whitewash for the opening try.

The reliable Kurt Gidley adds the extra two points.

Widnes forward Jack Buchanan gets tackled onto the sponsor's logo in the centre of the field, and gets up with his pristine white shirt covered in red paint. Whoever washes the Vikings' kits must be gutted right now.

A quiet opening, not much else to report.

The two teams are making their way out onto the field.

The conditions are pretty interesting - the sun's out, but there's some drizzle around. That'll make handling a little tricky in the opening stages.

Both coaches have been speaking to BBC Sport before kick-off...

Warrington head coach Tony Smith: "Our form in the last couple of weeks has been a little bit down, but it's the sort of game that can bring out the best in us. It's made for a good game."

Widnes head coach Denis Betts: "Like most rivalries, you don't know how it feels until you're in it. We've had some really good wins here and today's going to be a fantastic day."

Whereas Widnes dominated the Challenge Cup in the 1970s and 1980s, Warrington's recent pedigree in the competition is much more impressive.

They lifted the trophy three times in four years between 2009 and 2012, and Tony Smith's side are aiming to reach a seventh semi-final in eight seasons.

Widnes have fond memories of the Challenge Cup, given their strong showing in the competition during the 1970s and 1980s.

They appeared in seven of 10 finals between 1975 and 1984, winning the trophy four times during that period.

They're very close and very passionate.

Widnes were in the ascendancy when I was there and now Warrington have taken over that mantle, but Widnes deserve to be in this position playing in these games.

Four-time Challenge Cup winner Martin Offiah is backing Warrington to progress tonight against his old team Widnes.

The 50-year-old, who lifted the trophy at Wembley four times with Wigan and played another final with London Broncos, played for Widnes between 1987 and 1991.

"It's hard to back against my old side but Warrington have to be favourites," he told BBC Radio London.

"Kurt Gidley, Stefan Ratchford and Chris Sandow are really firing now and form the spine of that side. I know Ashton Sims is out but they have Ryan Bailey back in there."

There are 10 points between them in the Super League table.

Warrington have been one of the form teams and Widnes have got so much to give - I feel Widnes could be ready to produce that performance tonight.
