Hull FC coach Lee Radford told Sky Sports: "We defended really well again. We did the tough stuff really well.

"It will be intriguing to see who we get in the draw. We're 80 minutes away from achieving an unbelievable achievement for this group and that's what we're all striving for."

Hull half-back Marc Sneyd told Sky Sports: "It was always going to be a forward battle, they've done their job well today and made my life very easy.

"We killed ourselves a little bit again for the fifth week running, dropping balls and giving easy penalties away, but we managed to do enough to get over the line."

It's always a worrying sight when Hull captain Gareth Ellis goes down injured, given his previous injury woes when he first joined the club a couple of years ago.

It looks like he's got a little cut around his eye, and he leaves the field for the final couple of minutes.

Both sides will know they've been in a game today. Wow, it's been physical.

Hull deservedly in front and closing in on a 10th successive victory.

Marc Sneyd is trying to kick the life out of Catalans, and he's succeeding.

The Hull half-back puts a dream of a kick out wide and Jodie Broughton can only push it out of play for an attacking scrum for the hosts.

Scott Taylor is held up over the line on the fourth tackle, and Catalans have to boot it out again on the last. The pressure is building...

Tempted to copy and paste my previous entry...

Catalans are penalised 40 metres from their own line, Hull go for the two points and Marc Sneyd slots between the posts.

A 14-point lead for Hull, who look like they'll be in tonight's semi-final draw.

  11. PENALTY - Hull FC 20-8 Catalans Dragonspublished at 64 mins

    Marc Sneyd

Smart play from Hull, who opt to take a pot at goal when Willie Mason is penalised for a high shot.

Marc Sneyd slots it over effortlessly from 40 metres, and the hosts are now two converted tries clear of their French opponents.

Bang! Fouad Yaha runs straight into Steve Michaels and the Catalans man drops the ball 20 metres from his own line.

But the hosts can't take advantage and cough up possession. As you were.

A wonderful 40-20 kick from Thomas Bosc. Catalans in an attacking area...

It's spread to the left wing, they must be in, they are! Fouad Yaha crosses and we've got a game on again.

It's 11 years since Hull FC last won the Challenge Cup, edging past Leeds in a memorable one-point win in Cardiff in 2005 - Paul Cooke's last-gasp try and all that.

They're close to the line through Mark Minichiello, but the second-rower knocks on and Catalans are still just about in this.

This could turn into a very, very good season for Hull FC - so often the great enigma of Super League.

Top of the table, looking good bets to finish in the top four, and on course to reach the last four of the Challenge Cup.

Is this their year to pick up some silverware?

Is this the try that takes Hull FC into the Challenge Cup semi-finals?

Big prop Scott Taylor bursts through two weak Catalans tackles and is suddenly one-on-one with full-back Morgan Escare.

Hooker Danny Houghton is alongside in support and collects a pass easily before coasting over the line.

Well, it's just as physical in the second half as it was in the first. No points to report since half-time.

Dave Taylor is on the field for Catalans. He's a beast. An absolute beast. It took about five Hull players to drag him down to the ground from one carry during the Dragons' most recent set of six.

Hull will have to be a little bit wary, here. Catalans are the type of side that can score four tries in a mercurial 10 minutes if they're in the mood.

The home side's forwards were immense in the first half, and another strong effort's required if they are to seal a semi-final spot.
