Hull emerge from a bruising first 40 minutes with a 12-4 lead in this Challenge Cup quarter-final.

A Benjamin Garcia try put Catalans in front, but the hosts replied through Steve Michaels and Frank Pritchard to ensure they would go into the interval ahead.

    Still all to play for.

    Hull FC 12-4 Catalans Dragons

With Hull 30 metres out on the last tackle, Marc Sneyd attempts a drop-goal. But it's well wide. Well, well wide.

Looks like an eight-point lead at the interval for in-form Hull, who are aiming for a 10th successive victory.

    Hull FC 12-4 Catalans Dragons

Catalans miss out on the chance to cut Hull's lead before the interval.

They enjoy some real pressure near the Hull line, but Pat Richards can't gather the ball as it's worked out wide.

As you would expect, this has been a very physical battle. About four minutes left to play before the two sides can take a well-earned break from combat.

  9. try

TRY - Hull FC 12-4 Catalans Dragonspublished at 33 mins

    Frank Pritchard, goal Marc Sneyd

Catalans have just found out that when Frank Pritchard runs at you from two metres out, you will not stop him. No wonder they call him "Frank The Tank".

Hull have a second try, Marc Sneyd adds the extras and the home side have an eight-point lead.

    Hull FC 6-4 Catalans Dragons

Excellent stuff from Hull FC, who almost get through with Marc Sneyd. The half-back is tackled without the ball and the hosts have a penalty 10 metres out.

They run it, Danny Houghton earns another penalty. They run it, they lose it. Catalans survive.

  11. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Hull FC 6-4 Catalans Dragons

Catalans' kicking game isn't quite working at the moment. They've put two or three grubbers through on the last tackle and they've gone straight out of play.

  12. try

TRY - Hull FC 6-4 Catalans Dragonspublished at 21 mins

    Steve Michaels, goal Marc Sneyd

Steve Michaels is over for Hull, who take the lead as Marc Sneyd knocks over the kick at goal.

Catalans struggle to deal with a high kick and winger Michaels gathers for the Super League leaders, bursts through two tackles and scores.

    Hull FC 0-4 Catalans Dragons

Remi Casty is penalised, so Hull can start a set 40 metres from Catalans' line.

Three tackles in, they're at the whitewash but they can't get over, and captain Gareth Ellis knocks on from the next tackle to hand the ball over.

  14. try

    Benjamin Garcia

Ah, now we have points! It's the visitors Catalans who get them, courtesy of a try from Benjamin Garcia.

He dots down Glenn Stewart's grubber kick to put the Dragons in front. Not a bad return for Garcia, who rejoined the French club from NRL side Penrith earlier this week.

Pat Richards misses the kick at goal.

  15. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Hull FC 0-0 Catalans Dragons

As expected, a hard-fought opening to this Challenge Cup quarter-final. No points thus far.

  16. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Hull FC 0-0 Catalans Dragons

Catalans attack again and Hull just about survive - Todd Carney's kick on the last tackle finds Dragons winger Jodie Broughton five metres out, but he's kept out by Fetuli Talanoa.

  17. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Hull FC 0-0 Catalans Dragons

The pitch at the KCOM Stadium has just been relaid, and it looks very sandy out there. Whether that has an effect, positively or negatively, remains to be seen.

Referee Ben Thaler has awarded four penalties in the first five minutes, three of them against Hull. Disclipine could be key in this one.

  18. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Hull FC 0-0 Catalans Dragons

Hull give away a couple of early penalties, giving Catalans decent field position in the first couple of minutes, but the Dragons can't make the most of it and throw the ball out of play.
