I think we want to see the best of both sides.

It's well-documented how both sides have been struggling in Super League, but the Challenge Cup is a huge opportunity for that to go out of the window.

I'm looking forward to seeing the best of Warrington and the best of Wigan, and if that happens we have got the potential for an absolute cracker of a game.

Warrington's season, like their opponents today, has been a very forgettable one.

Wolves look destined for a fight to preserve their Super League status in the Qualifiers, sitting 10th in the Super League table after 18 games.

It's a sharp change in fortunes from last season, when Tony Smith's side finished runners-up in Super League and the Challenge Cup.

"We're looking for the cup to inspire us into some better form," Smith told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Wigan and ourselves usually bring out the best in each other and hopefully that will be the case this week."

Wigan are the most successful team in the Challenge Cup's history, lifting the trophy on 19 occasions, but their form this season has not inspired much confidence that this year will bring a 20th triumph.

Warriors beat Cronulla to win the World Club Challenge in February, but since then, injuries have derailed their season, as they sit eighth in the Super League table.

The defending Super League champions have five players returning to their squad today after injury, including captain Sean O'Loughlin.

"Both teams are not playing well and both teams need to improve," head coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester.

"You'll see now we're starting to get players back it's going to improve us massively."

It doesn't get much better than this.

Two big rivals meet in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals, as Warrington Wolves play host to Wigan Warriors.

With neither side living up to expectations in Super League this season, today's match is crucial to their chances of adding some more silverware to their cabinet.
