    New Zealand 2-2 Fiji

It doesn't matter whether you're Fiji or New Zealand in this one. You'll equally be shifting awkwardly in your seat watching this.

Pure tension. Not the best game technically but dramatic all the same.

Both sides turning over in good areas while looking for the gamebreaker. Scrappy.

    New Zealand 2-2 Fiji

First time we've seen New Zealand throw some proper shape at Fiji, some proper plays. The Bati stand firm. Kiwis still down to 12 with Jordan Rapana in the sin-bin.

Shaun Johnson puts a tester of a kick in behind but Akuila Uate takes the ball on the bounce, on the run, and puts the Fijians on the front foot.

    New Zealand 2-2 Fiji

Fiji not bowed by their inability to take points a moment ago. They're right back on it. Kiwis backpedalling!

Oh! Brayden Wiliame tries to hit a flat pass but is just short before propelling himself over the line on a double movement. No score.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona takes the ball forward and New Zealand must make their fortune count.

Lee Maddocks: The way this game is going, none of them will pose a threat in the semi finals and Australia will get yet another walkover. #bbcrl

    New Zealand 2-2 Fiji

Jordan Rapana is sent to the bin.

Fiji putting New Zealand on the rack... then Shaun Johnson poaches the ball! Should they have taken the two from that penalty?

    New Zealand 2-2 Fiji

Again the Kiwis are what you might call clunky. There's no rhythm or fluidity to the play. Nothing at the moment is smooth.

Oh, wait a minute. Here go Fiji! First Kevin Naiqama with a stirring run and then Suliasi Vunivalu... a professional foul to stall Fiji...

Shaun Johnson nails it. We're level. Tight as a drum.

    New Zealand 0-2 Fiji

Fiji pulled for a knock-on - harsh - and then dissent produces a New Zealand penalty!

10 out for the Kiwis... they're not running it though. Kick for goal.

Much better in 'yardage' to use rugby league parlance there from New Zealand. Romping down field before finishing with a kick that is gathered just in front of the Fiji line.

    New Zealand 0-2 Fiji

Joint lowest half-time scoreline by the way, 2-0, only happened on three occasions.

Matt Cecchin draws on the whistle and it's New Zealand who get the ball, full of zip after a half-time of reflection.

It's quite an industrial landscape around the stadium in Wellington isn't it? Docks basically and a few shipping containers.

There might be a few Kiwis players being 'shipped out' (see what I did there) if they don't buck up their performance in the second half.

Mick Potter, in the Fiji dressing room, will have had barely a complaint. His side do need to turn possession into points, to use some quite handy alliteration.

Pie 'n a Pint: What a half from #fiji, external - dominant performance, just need to capitalise. #kiwis, external will step up in the second half.

Brian Davies: So these #RLWC2017, external QFs are turning out quite exciting. Great afternoon in the pub. #rugbyleague, external

Afternoon in the pub? Just where exactly are you?

    HT: New Zealand 0-2 Fiji

Fiji forward Ashton Sims: “We have got to be better on their goalline – we got to go in there now and regroup.”

New Zealand skipper Adam Blair: “It is a dogfight - it is what we expected, it is good for the game, both the teams are working hard. We are going to come out a different team for the second half."

    New Zealand 0-2 Fiji

We've a scoreline that would be more fitting for the All Whites rather than the Kiwis but New Zealand trail on their home turf against a Fiji side fired up and ready.

The Bati have dominated on all counts, including the board, but they only have two points.

New Zealand need an all-time rocket for the ages, as one of the top three teams in the world they need to get a grip as they're being outplayed. And heading out as it stands.

Russell Packer roars at referee Matt Cecchin as Fiji fumble - the referee had already given the Kiwis the decision. That's frustration talking.

Seconds to the break as New Zealand press...

Akuila Uate again the threat down Fiji's left but New Zealand desperately scramble. I might put "desperately scramble" on a hot key. It's getting a lot of use that phrase.

Fiji need to find some points to show for their one-sided dominance. Right now, the Kiwis are struggling but it takes one moment of magic from a Roger Tuivasa-Sheck or Shaun Johnson and the tide may turn.

The tape wasn't enough for Joseph Tapine. He's off injured and Adam Blair is back on.

Fiji really getting in Kiwi faces as they look to clear their lines. They'll kick on the last from inside their own half - even inside their own 40! Shaun Johnson's just fluffed his kick too!

David Kidwell needs to get into his players at the break. Johnson needs to get on the ball. He has X-factor.

    New Zealand 0-2 Fiji

Akuila Uate fizzes the ball wide to Henry Raiwalui and the half is away down the left side! New Zealand desperately haul him down with an ankle tap.

Kiwis reset the defence, Fiji still in a strong position but the last tackle kick comes to an end.

The hosts are wobbling... do the Bati have a knock-out blow in them?

    New Zealand 0-2 Fiji

New Zealand are really struggling to win the collision - as they say in rugby league.

Basically, that means Fiji are making metres in tackles, forcing New Zealand to commit more numbers and eat up more energy.

Long kick from Jarryd Hayne for Fiji in behind turns New Zealand round and gives his forwards a breather.
