There's no invention from Australia now. They're just looking to get themselves through sets, through the clock.

England have forwards wandering back into the line. They have to play out from their own end.

Loose carry from Tom Burgess the first carry of the set! INFURIATING, DEFLATING.

What a waste. England release the pressure. Australia come away from the scrum. Nothing flashy here. Complete and exit.

Currently England are but a converted try from parity and forcing extra time. Really strong set.

They went for the big shift play, Valentine Holmes shot the line on the left - if he gets it, he's in!

He doesn't.... England get a scrum and attacking position here! Eight and half to go!

Australia are the ones tiring. Under the cosh. Luke Gale gets to the 20... slides the kick into the 10. Billy Slater's muscle memory sees him bring that ball in as he has done so many times. Kangaroos survive.

England back on the defensive now. But they limit Australia's metres... however, the last tackle kick goes deep in behind. Jonny Lomax allows the ball out for a scrum.

England have enjoyed a purple patch but Australia, having been under the pump work their way to the 40 and on the last, the old general Cameron Smith pumps the ball to touch.

Scrum for England, in their end. This is a tight game. 52% possession Australia. England still very much in this game.

The Australia players are gasping for air. If Australia had a choice, they'd call a time-out. They are out on their feet.

England run it hard through Chris Hill and James Graham. The heavy artillery unloaded on the Kangaroos line.

Ball slickly goes right through the livened up Watkins, his pass find McGillvary. Stopped.

Infield again with Chris Heighington. Then James Roby. Flow stemmed.

Last tackle... ball goes wide! Into touch... was that the chance?!
