There's plenty of "cherry and white" and "black and white" on show in Woolongong.

Hull FC have become one of the major forces in Super League under head coach Lee Radford.

Two Challenge Cups and two top-four finishes have put the Airlie Birds back among the elite, and their involvement in Australia is something of a bonus to those players who helped establish them there.

"It's a trip I've been looking forward to," Radford told BBC Sport. "People have talked about travel and hindrance but we've been training with the sun on our backs.

"It's reward for the two seasons we've had. It's a reward for all the efforts that went into that, you do good things and good things happen."

Well, it's hoped that sponsorship and partnership opportunities will arise from marketing Europe's domestic product down under, as well as showcasing Super League to an Australian audience.

The two clubs will play counterparts from Australia's National Rugby League next Saturday - 24 hours after champions Leeds Rhinos face Melbourne Storm in the 2018 World Club Challenge.

When the tour was announced, Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan described it as "one of the most innovative and exciting" moments in the history of the club, while Hull chairman Adam Pearson said it would be a "historic occasion".

The prize for winning is the same as ever - two points.

The nature of the action won't differ too much either.

It is, however, a lot warmer in Wollongong than it is in Wigan.
