    Felise Kaufusi

Superb work by Melbourne to put this game to bed and it's wonderful variety of passing that puts big Felise Kaufusi (brother of ex-London, Huddersfield and Bradford prop Antonio) in. Great footwork to steam in there.

Smith to Croft to Kaufusi. Try.

Sorry Leeds, but this one is sewn up.

Leeds centre Kallum Watkins makes a trysaver on Jesse Bromwich as he goes streaming through...

Then another interference at the ruck gives Storm a penalty...

    Melbourne 24-4 Leeds

Leeds Rhinos again get to within 20 of the Storm line but the last tackle hanging kick by Richie Myler is caught easily by Cameron Munster.

Suddenly, Storm are back on the offensive.

Leeds get the ball back but it's key where they're being handed the ball. Normally right next to their own goalline. It takes some energy just clearing their own end.

Howard: Leeds are not playing too bad but need to cut out the silly penalties and be more clinical with ball in hand.

Kyle: I hate to be negative but I do think it's game over now. Leeds have played well but Melbourne are just too good. No disgrace in that as they have thrashed many an NRL side.

    Melbourne 24-4 Leeds

Melbourne get the roll on following that try.

Big forwards carving up metres, rolling Leeds back. However, a bit too much excitement by Christian Welch sees him turn over the ball.

Leeds need to make their sets count. Try soon is essential.

    Nelson Asofa-Solomona, goal Cameron Smith

For all the craft that exists within this Melbourne side, it's the big boppers who have got them over the line here with Nelson Asofa-Solomona rumbling across to score.

Lovely soft hands from the skipper Cameron Smith. Once again it's subtlety from the pivots to release the heavy artillery.

    Maybe now, it's game over.

Brian McDermott will be looking to get Matt Parcell back on as quickly as possible.

There's just a drop-off in tempo with Leeds and they've got to keep that up. It's not keeping the pressure on Melbourne.

Felise Kaufusi and Nelson Asofa-Solomona go close, Kenny Bromwich too. Leeds stand firm.

Brodie Croft takes the ball to the right and tries to pop Will Chambers through a gap but he's stopped and spills in contact by Joel Moon's tackle.

Leeds did really well. What's that defensive effort taking out of them though? That's the key.

    Melbourne 18-4 Leeds

Leeds disappointingly give away possession once again and that won't please Brian McDermott.

They need to take those opportunities.

The Purple Pride comes rolling downfield on the back of that penalty. Then a repeat set for another penalty after Carl Ablett stays in the tackle. Sloppy.

Jamie Jones-Buchanan, in his seventh World Club Challenge, gives Leeds a bit of punch.

The Rhinos work their way into the Storm 10 but Brad Dwyer goes for a little scoot without any options and turns over.

Billy Slater, meanwhile, has gone off so as not to further damage his shoulder. He's had multiple reconstructions on that joint and won't want to risk it.

Ryan Hoffman spills it and now Leeds have another chance to attack.

  11. Kick-offpublished at 40 mins

    Melbourne 18-4 Leeds

Right, Leeds will get the ball off the restart.

The boot of Cam Smith gets us underway... and Liam Sutcliffe has to roll to get the ball. Might just have knocked that on but it's not seen!

    Interesting half-time stats.

Leeds have made more metres, 685 to 590 in return and completed 13 of 18 sets.

Melbourne Storm, however, made four line-breaks to one, missed only nine tackles compared to 24 and completed 16 of 19 sets.

Easy to spot where to fix things up, not so easy to actually do it.

Ryan Hall celebrates his scoreImage source, SWPIX.COM

Right, we've been here before haven't we? 'Game over', the naysayers might claim. But we're not settling for that.

How can Leeds Rhinos get back into this? Well, first of all it needs to be a clean game - good completion and no penalties.

Get the front rowers stuck in, running hard. There's respect for Adam Cuthbertson, and Brad Singleton won't take a backward step...

Keep getting the ball wide to the dynamite backline of Ryan Hall, Kallum Watkins and Tom Briscoe. All capable ball-carriers.

Joel Moon's an unpredictable soul... let him cut loose.

This game isn't beyond them yet, but they can't afford to concede again.

Leeds have played well and there's frustration about a couple of errors, but the way they've approached the game has been really good.

They've been done on a couple of plays where they've overworked, not underworked, and they've suffered the consequences.

  16. Half-timepublished at 09:59 Greenwich Mean Time 16 February 2018

    Melbourne 18-4 Leeds

Harsh on Leeds who have been very good defensively, have shown a bit of threat going forward and scored a fine try of their own.

However, the scoreline tells you why Melbourne Storm are the NRL premiers. They are ruthless and relentless.

Not even the loss of Cooper Cronk seems to have affected them as Brodie Croft has been exceptional, and the old guard of Billy Slater and Cameron Smith continue to be pivotal.

No shame in this first-half display.

The damage was done with the previous play. They didn't have a normal left edge. It's a sucker punch just before half-time.

  18. try

    Suliasi Vunivalu, goal Cameron Smith

We saw it in the NRL during 2017, we saw it at the World Cup and we've seen it again now.

Suliasi Vunivalu is one of the best wingers in the world and he scores a wonderful individual try.

it looked like Storm were running out of room on the right but the rubber-legged Vunivalu cut back in and sprinted beyond the Leeds cover to score.

    Harsh, but deadly.

    Melbourne 12-4 Leeds

Not a bad finish to the set by Leeds, Joel Moon slipping a lovely weighted grubber into the in-goal.

However, Billy Slater is a phenomenal player and manages to grab the ball and bring it in.

    Now the Storm break...

  20. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Melbourne 12-4 Leeds

Melbourne Storm getting through sets and threading kicks in behind to turn Leeds Rhinos around.

Penalty for sloppiness by Suliasi Vunivalu at the ruck gives Leeds a penalty and a platform.
