Toronto's Mayor John Tory is one of the first to take his place on the quickly erected stand on the pitch and he addresses the crowd!

He is obviously overjoyed and goes on to say that he is flying to London on Sunday and will warn the English that the Wolfpack are coming.

    Loving the spirit!

There are jubilant scenes in Toronto as the Wolfpack break new ground for rugby league.

Featherstone players look exhausted, but rather than slump to the ground they head over to acknowledge their fans. Class by Fev.

    Blake Wallace

It is a straight forward kick and Blake Wallace makes no mistake.

Less than 60 seconds to go before Toronto are confirmed as a Super League club.

    Just two minutes left.

Featherstone concede a penalty, Jack Johnson gets a talking to by referee Christopher Kendall.

    Toronto tee up the points...

That tempo that was kept up for so long has gone out of the game a little now.

Still, Ashton Sims, the former Brisbane, North Queensland and Warrington star, is putting in some big hits. He obviously wants to leave an impression on a good few people in his last game before retirement.

Also there to see it today is a crowd of 9,974. That is full house at the Lamport Stadium. A brilliant advert for the game in North America.

There are less than 10 minutes remaining now.

Surely that try from Joe Mellor is sending his Canadian club into the English Super League.

    Joe Mellor, con O'Brien

    It is end-to-end stuff.

Just moments after Cameron King is stopped short, play flew up the other end with Joe Mellor coming up with the finish.

He is twice involved in the set of six and just when it looks as though he has been stopped, he keeps his balance and touches down.

    Toronto 16-6 Featherstone

The Wolfpack defence maintain their shape and don't yield as Featherstone big men get stuck in.

They survive, but the respite it only momentary as poor handling from Jon Wilkin gives the ball straight back.

    Featherstone go again.

Repeat sets for Featherstone, they are not done yet.

Dane Chisholm holds up in the in goal and has to be ushered out. Can Fev find a way back now?

No frills, no fuss, Toronto are over again.

Jon Wilkin runs at the line, picks his moment to sling a pass to Blake Wallace who shifts it on to Bodene Thompson to smash it down. And I mean he just drives the ball in the ground when he crosses the line.

The extras are added and it is a 10-point lead with less than 20 minutes to play.

    Toronto 10-6 Featherstone

Toronto go looking for their second try in three minutes. They are knocking hard on the door and are willing to throw the ball around to find it.

Joe Mellor has it on the last but Ashton Golding stops the Wolfpack from adding to their advantage.

From the scrum the ball finds Blake Wallace, who sees space yawn open right in front of him.

With a step and skip he evades the tacklers and has enough power to crash over. That try was coming!

    Toronto 4-6 Featherstone

A few penalties now has Toronto with the ball just 10m out.

What can the Wolfpack do from here?

  18. Postpublished at 53 mins

    Toronto 4-6 Featherstone

Dane Chisholm puts up a high, high, HIGH ball that has Toronto's back just ball watching.

It is allowed to bounce and Wolfpack full-back Gareth O'Brien comes up with it.

He dances to evade the chasers and in broken play Toronto look better, slicker, more capable of hurting Featherstone.

Metres are gained, but Toronto have nothing to show for their efforts.

    Toronto 4-6 Featherstone

Featherstone up to the 20m line and looking for a way through... play almost comes to a stand still as they look for it.

Eventually, the moment is lost as Jack Bussey runs around the back of his own man.

  20. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Toronto 4-6 Featherstone

James Harrison with some immense defensive work. Toronto are held up... they regather and come again.

And who should the Wolfpack run into... yep, that man Harrison helping out right on the line again as Jon Wilkin is wrapped up.
