For a second... a split second it looked as if Joe Mellor was on his way over for Toronto.

However, as he races off up the middle the whistle goes and play is pulled back as Gadwin Springer fails to move out of the way creating obstruction. Quicker thinking needed, right there!

Oh, now that is the Toronto expected today!

It is a slick first set of six, but is is all ruined with a drop ball from Josh McCrone. A costly error, but great intent.

A penalty is then conceded and Featherstone are back up the other end. Time for the hosts to defend.

    Toronto 4-6 Featherstone

Matty Russell has found himself targeted under the high ball on the left today.

Again under pressure he remains composed and with less than two minutes remaining he sets the hosts on their way from deep in their own half again.

They chew up the metres, but the attack fizzles.

    Toronto 4-6 Featherstone

We have just five minutes of the fist half remaining and the tempo is as high as it was in the first minute.

It has gone end-to-end in the past few sets.

A smart kick by Dane Chisholm puts Toronto deep in their own half, and they will have to work hard to grab another try before the break.

    The response is immediate.

Toronto have failed to slip around Featherstone's defence today, so Wolfpack captain Josh McCrone just charges through their resistance. It is a great try for the skipper at the perfect time!

The extras are missed and Featherstone still lead with just a few minutes of this first half remaining.

    Alex Sutcliffe, con Dane Chisholm

    THERE IT IS!

It is a marvelously weighted kick from Dane Chisholm.

Liam Kay for Toronto is first to it, but the bounce devices him as it looks to be running dead... there to touch down is Alex Sutcliffe.

Have you ever heard of the Great Wall of Featherstone? It's a thing and it is doing a hell of a job in Toronto today. Their defensive display has been immense in the opening 25 minutes.

The passion and power that drives this side is there for all to see as high fives and back slaps are traded all round as they tie up a tackle in the middle of the pitch.

    Toronto 0-0 Featherstone

Featherstone with some superb defensive work. John Davies does well to frustrate Toronto near the line, he hangs on in the tackle too long and concedes a penalty.

Toronto again come at Fev from close range, but Joe Mellor is pinged for running around his man and creating an obstruction.

  15. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Toronto 0-0 Featherstone

He's off in a FLASH! Andy Ackers breaks clear and Toronto are bearing down.

The chance is kept alive after Ackers is cornered, but it comes to nothing as Gareth O'Brien tries to scamper over.

Sustained pressure being applied now by Toronto.

    A big chance for Toronto.

Chase Stanley comes up with possession in the right corner and tries a flick pass out the back. The ball goes loose, but Featherstone reclaim it.

    Toronto 0-0 Featherstone

Boom! Callum McLelland punched through a gap and Featherstone are looking dangerous.

But in a flash, red bodies descend from all directions.

Five places may have separated these sides in the table, but they are evenly matched today.

  18. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Toronto 0-0 Featherstone

Toronto are willing and showing themselves to be very able to spread the ball.

They run it on the last through Chase Stanley. Again, Featherstone refuse to be breached.

    Toronto 0-0 Featherstone

Former Toronto second-rower Jack Bussey makes some big metres and Toronto are backpedaling, but eventually subdue the visitors.

This is high tempo, quality stuff from both sides so far.

    Toronto 0-0 Featherstone

    No, Featherstone's defence hold firm.

Desperate stuff, but the danger is defused under a high ball.

    Now Featherstone attack...
