This fixture marks the start of Ireland’s fifth World Cup campaign but they have not reached the knock-out stages since 2008.
The Wolfhounds, who are ranked 12th in the world, have not played since 2019 due to the Covid pandemic but have won five of their last seven matches, including a 25-4 win against Italy in qualification.
