Organisers have drafted in the England football supporters band to boost the atmosphere and the bashing of that drum hasn't stopped.
The crowd are on their feet for the first time with a superb England move finished off by Ryan Hall in the corner.
"Ryan, Ryan Haaaall, Ryan, Ryan Haaaaall," toots out from the trumpeter.

It was a great set from England. They pushed and prodded and broke this French defence.
The kick from Williams goes into that awkward space where no one in willing to jump and catch for France.

Try number 36 for England's all-time leading try scorer and it's a walk-in for Ryan Hall.
George Williams kicks, Chris Hill mops up and Marc Sneyd sends the Hull KR winger over from close range.
Sneyd kicks the extras for a 6-0 lead.

Looking for a real disciplined defensive performance from England. We watched Australia who were seamless in their game against Scotland last night.
For France, they're excited they can come here and get something this afternoon.

England Test debutant Marc Sneyd gets his first chance to kick on the last tackle.
There's a bit of chaos as Ryan Hall contests for it in the air, but France survive.

Can see how many empty seats there are in the opening few minutes.
Hopefully those stuck outside don't miss too much of the game.
England 0-0 France
England's first set ends with a George Williams kick that is caught about two yards from the French try line.
Solid start.

As the game kicks off, I'll tell you about a lovely touch from the French side...

We've had the national anthems and now it's time for the action. The match ball has been carried onto the field by Shaun Wane's seven-year-old grandson.
Conditions look great - can England follow up last week's thrashing of Samoa with another win to almost certainly guarantee progression to the last eight as group winners?

There are horrific traffic problems outside. The stadium will fill up as we go on.

Out come the teams at the University of Bolton Stadium.
There are a few empty seats around, but BBC rugby league correspondent Dave Woods reports that there are a few traffic problems in the area which might have contributed to that.

I think there's going to be loads of little battles going on in the field today.
There are some big boys on the French team.

England head coach Shaun Wane, speaking to BBC Two:
"Some of what we've been working on will be private because I don't want France to know about it!
"I'll never be satisfied, there's always something we can do better. There were a few details in our defence where we can improve and there's a few minor details that we've improved this week.
"France have some highly-skilled players and big ball-carriers. It will be a different sort of challenge."

Gavin: France were once the fourth best rugby league nation in the world. They now have two Super League teams yet the international side has gone backwards (currently ranked ninth). What’s gone wrong, and how do you fix it?
England v France (17:00 BST)
France got off to a winning start in Doncaster on Monday, beating World Cup debutants Greece 34-12.
It was far from a vintage display, but the French did enough to slot in behind England at the top of Group A.
Many of their squad were playing in Super League last season; 13 with Catalans Dragons and eight with relegated Toulouse.
The Catalans connection continues off the field as they are led by ex-Dragons coach Laurent Frayssinous, while former Great Britain half-back Sean Long is among the support team.

As an international coach every decision is scrutinised. When you're the England coach you have a whole squad of world-class players.
