Earlier today, Wales narrowly beat New Zealand in the first game of the Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup in Warrington.

    Take care!

Looking ahead to Monday and there will be a moment of history when Australian Kasey Badger becomes the first female to referee a men's Rugby League World Cup match.

Badger is one of three female officials in a group of 28 taking control of matches in the men's and women's tournaments.

She told BBC Sport: "I hope in years to come there will be a female who approaches me and says: 'I took up refereeing because I saw you referee that game, or I read an article, or I saw something on TV about you refereeing that Test match.'

"That's what moments like this can generate, getting it out to the wider public.

"There's a young girl who might start refereeing or get involved in rugby league in some capacity; whether that be as a fan, player or as a coach, whatever it might be - they might get involved because they see what I'm about to do."

The lessons Lebanon have learned over the last couple of years are bringing rewards now. Maybe for Ireland perhaps this is a process this group of players had to go through before 2025 and how they approach a game of such magnitude.

Lebanon took advantage of the misdirection of the Ireland team. Khaled Rajab came in for Adam Doueihi and absolutely killed it.

Mitchell Moses was on the top of his game and Michael Cheika knows he has got some good players there.

Ireland head coach Ged Corcoran, speaking to BBC Two:

"Disappointing. We put ourselves in the wrong part of the field and put ourselves under pressure. Silly errors and stupid mistakes cost us.

"Emotion is a funny thing. It caused a bit of brain fog.

"We're healthy. We're excited about going into the New Zealand game. There's still lots to play for, they've got to play Jamaica. We've got to stay grounded. It will hurt watching this one back."

[Can Ireland beat New Zealand?] "Why not?"

You look down the Ireland roster and there is so much Super League and NRL experience. They should be doing better than they showed today. I feel almost embarrassed that I talked Ireland up now.

Lebanon head coach Michael Cheika, speaking to BBC Two:

"It was a bit scrappy at times. You clearly saw two teams who were nervous playing in a very important game.

"We stuck to the fundamentals well, I wasn't too happy we lost our heads a little bit. I thought Ireland would try and rough us up a little bit, we lost a bit of our way there and that's when we made some mistakes.

"But all in all, really pleased. Now we've got to finish the job off to qualify against Jamaica. How we prepare over the next seven days will decide if we get through or not."

It didn't get any better for Ireland in the second half. Mitchell Moses spoke about how they'd prepared for a dog fight and I feel that Ireland were masters of their own downfall.

Lebanon captain and player of the match Mitchell Moses, speaking to BBC Two:

"It was very fiery, a couple of boys ended up in row one, but we know that's how they play. They wanted to try to get us into a bit of a dogfight I guess, but I thought we didn't take a backward step.

"We started really well. There are areas we can fix up, but if we can shut the game out a bit better, hopefully we can beat Jamaica and head into the quarters.

"No game is easy in the World Cup. We know Jamaica will come out fired up. We've just got to be one team and will need players 1 to 17 to get the win."

There were 18 errors made by the Ireland team and on top of that 11 penalties. You cannot expect to win an international match with stats like that. It has been a harsh lesson for them.

Scrums from the middle of the field are so difficult to defend now. It is all about Luke Keary.

It makes it look more respectable but they have been well beaten today.

Ireland have a scrum and quickly recycle the ball to Luke Keary who sets up Ed Chamberlain on the wing for a pacey score.

Despite being a player down, Ireland have grabbed a late consolation.

    The extras are missed though.
