John Smith: When will everyone learn, pundits, media etc. England are the third best team in the world at the very best. They ALWAYS get to the semis then realise, oh we are actually not that good. I've been seeing the same scenario for the last 25 years!

stu-ART-mac: England need to buck their ideas up if they want to make the final. Some glimpses of quality but they are up against a good team and they have to be more ruthless

When Elliott Whitehead scored this, I thought it would be one-way traffic for England.

    It wasn't.

They've only had a couple of opportunities at England's end of the field and they'll be happy with the way they've scrambled defensively.

They've got to back that up.

England are just slightly off the detail in everything they're doing. They're not nailing opportunities.

It's not the England we've seen for the past four weeks.

A word on Samoa. They lost their captain for 10 minutes, two of their starters went out with head injuries, and yet they still kept on coming.

They had never got beyond a quarter-final before this tournament. Now they're 40 minutes away from the final.

Iain Smith: To be fair, Samoa deserve to be leading. Very scrappy from England.

J Kitch: Nowhere near the quality of the first Semi Final, but a great gritty performance from Samoa in that first 40...all the work to do for England now...We go again!

Mark: England need to turn up for the second half or they won’t be going to Old Trafford next week. COME ON ENGLAND!!!!

England captain Sam Tomkins speaking to BBC Two:

"We were our own worst enemy. We put ourselves under pressure. We were winning the arm wrestle but we gave them opportunities in our half and they stung us.

"We have what it takes to win this. This was our worst 40 minutes of the tournament."
