    Warrington 8-19 Hull FC

A reminder that last season, Warrington lost at this stage of the play-offs to Castleford and that came off the back of a successful campaign for the hosts, who had won the Challenge Cup.

The Wire have had a decent run of things this term, but they need answers and they need them fast if they are to avoid going out early doors once again.

Body language isn't always everything in sport but the Warrington players looked absolutely crestfallen as Marc Sneyd teed up that conversion.

That won't do a lot to inspire confidence in Steve Price, who watches on from the stands almost in disbelief.

    Chris Satae, goal Marc Sneyd

What a start to the second half for Hull FC!

Chris Satae literally crawls to the line to ground the ball for his second try of the campaign and that's not the start Warrington needed!

Marc Sneyd keeps up his 100% record and adds the two.

Can Warrington return or are Hull going through to next week's semis?

There's a real eerieness to the half-time break, where silence has replaced the buzz of loud music and half-time on-pitch fan races.

As for the first-half, well we're always told how important kickers are in rugby league and so it has come to pass, Marc Sneyd's two goals and the drop goal at the back end of the opening 40 are the difference.

Stefan Ratchford is no slouch from the tee, but Sneyd is winning that particular battle. He seems to have harnessed the wind. But unless it's turned, the conditions could be in Warrington's favour this half.

That could not have gone better for Hull FC who well and truly grew into the game and take a well-earned lead at the break.

Warrington have much to think about. They controlled the opening stages, but have little to show for it as they head to the dressing rooms.

  8. DROP-GOAL: Warrington 8-13 Hull FCpublished at 40 mins

    Marc Sneyd

Yep. Of course Marc Sneyd's scored a drop-goal on the verge of half-time.

That's his third of the season, for what it's worth.

Make that a five-point lead to Hull FC, now.

Who'd have thought Hull would be four points ahead after Warrington's comfortable opening 10 minutes or so?!

As time ticks down to half-time, the visitors are looking comfortable.

There's a short break in play as Blake Austin receives some treatment after he appears to clash into the head of Wire teammate Josh Charnley.

    What a game!

Ben Currie is unable to deal with a wild grubber kick that bounces wildly between the posts and Joe Cator pounces out of nowhere to touch down and put Hull ahead once more!

Marc Sneyd makes no mistake with the boot and oh how costly those missed Stefan Ratchford conversions are for Warrington, now.

The precision on that kick from Gareth Widdop was made even more impressive by the horrid swirling wind in the ground.

It's bitter, bitingly cold. In Anthony Gelling and Toby King, Warrington have two really good aerial threats and you sense they'll use this to their advantage.

Credit to both teams, the quality of the tries has been excellent. Really sharp handling.

  12. try

    Anthony Gelling

Warrington break ahead! And it's Anthony Gelling who crosses for the Wire to put them in front as he collects Gareth Widdop's crossfield ball.

Stefan Ratchford misses the extras once more, however.

    Warrington 4-6 Hull FC

Stefan Ratchford claims a much harder high kick than the one he spilt a few minutes ago.

The wind is causing some issues in Warrington this evening and it certainly keeping some players on their toes!

Question is, will this be a match where both sides are forced into playing the conditions as well as each other?

  14. try

TRY: Warrington 4-6 Hull FCpublished at 24 mins

    Matty Ashton

    Now there's a response!

What do Warrington have in response to that shock Hull FC try? Well they've done well to break upfield on the attack and Matty Ashton touches down at the corner on the last tackle!

Stefan Ratchford puts his kick wide, however. A two-point game.

Blimey, talk about against the run of play!

Bureta Faraimo, take a bow pal. He weaves his way into space and leaves Josh Charnley in his wake as he touches down with ease.

    Marc Sneyd adds the two.

    Warrington 0-0 Hull FC

Superb defence from Warrington! A succession of Hull FC breaks to the try-line results in Mahe Fonua surely going over.

But no! He's held up by a tangle of Wire players right on the line with Stefan Ratchford the figurehead in that defensive play moments after he gave away possession.

    Superb.

Blimey. You can normally set your watch by Stefan Ratchford but the Warrington full-back has just spilt a high ball to knock on deep in the hosts' half of the field.

    Can Hull FC take advantage?

    Warrington 0-0 Hull FC

Matty Ashton darts through a sea of Hull FC bodies as Warrington maintain their early pressure.

He looks to offload as he's tackled but he can't quite work the ball to the onrushing Stefan Ratchford.

    Warrington 0-0 Hull FC

Gareth Widdop attempts to kick and chase as the ball bounces in Hull FC's half of the field once more.

However, the ball bobbles about on the surface and the Warrington stand-off can't quite get some welly on the ball.

    A pity.

    Warrington 0-0 Hull FC

Another Warrington drive to the line and Blake Austin almost touches down as they overwhelm Hull FC on the break.

Soon after, the hosts win another set of six deep in Hull's 10 and Jack Hughes goes to turn and ground the ball but appears to spill it in the process.

Referee Liam Moore takes it upstairs to double check whether Marc Sneyd interfered in the process but video referee Ben Thaler decides it's no try and judges it's a knock on.
