    Catalans 18-6 Leeds

Catalans have mostly been pretty reliable tonight with their kick receptions but David Mead has just spilled an attempted collection and Leeds win a set of six within their opponents' half.

A great opportunity for the Rhinos who could do with a quickfire try, here.

Whereas last night there was a fair amount of wind blowing around the Halliwell Jones Stadium, tonight the air has been reasonably still.

That being said, a huge James Maloney kick has waywardly bounced backwards and gone in to touch at a bit of a weird angle.

With the amount of high kicks tonight, maybe the conditions will eventually play their part.

    Back under way in Warrington.

A blow for Leeds, who have already lost Ava Seumanufagai, as Mikolai Oledzki has been ruled out of the rest of this match after coming off worse from a collision with Sam Kasiano at the tail end of the first half.

    And that's the hooter.

That Alex Sutcliffe try has certainly made things a bit more interesting at the break but Catalans look comfortable and good value for their 12-point advantage.

An important second half awaits for both sides with a semi-final against St Helens the reward for tonight's victors.

  7. try

    Alex Sutcliffe, goal Rhyse Martin

    ESSAI LEEDS.

My word they needed that. Alex Sutcliffe does well as Leeds carve a bit of space and work quickly to catch Catalans out.

Nothing for referee to Chris Kendall to argue with there and Rhyse Martin makes the kick to add the two.

    Catalans 18-0 Leeds

To add to Leeds' woe at the minute, three tries down and lacking answers, Ava Seumanufagai's night is over after his earlier head injury assessment.

And now Sam Kasiano goes into Mikolai Oledzki who's looking a bit worse for wear in the aftermath as he's walked off the field with the physios.

  9. try

TRY: Catalans 18-0 Leedspublished at 31 mins

    Israel Folau, goal James Maloney

My word Catalans are on fire. Israel Folau touches down as the Dragons yet again kick high to put Leeds under pressure.

This time the chip in the air comes from Sam Tomkins and Folau grounds it under pressure.

Despite referee Chris Kendall sending it upstairs, it's given, and James Maloney adds the two.

Penny for the thoughts of St Helens boss Kristian Woolf this evening.

His side will face the winner of this Super League play-off eliminator next week.

Catalans have played four fewer games than everyone else in the play-offs this season due to coronavirus testing forcing a number of their games to be called off.

Is their freshness playing its part tonight?

We're just past halfway through this first half and it's not going Leeds' way so far.

Catalans press for their third try of the match and work the ball across the field before Leeds win a penalty deep in their own half.

  12. NO TRYpublished at 22 mins

    Catalans 12-0 Leeds

Leeds are denied their first try of the game after Matt Prior seemingly crossed over with ease following a clever dummy on the line.

However it's chalked off for an obstruction in the build-up and Catalans win a penalty.

  13. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Catalans 12-0 Leeds

Bad news for Leeds as Ava Seumanufagai is currently receiving a head injury assessment.

Apparently he came off worse from his first tackle of the game.

We'll keep you posted if there's an update on whether he's able to continue.

  14. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Catalans 12-0 Leeds

Oh Leeds. Luke Gale offloads to Richie Myler, who's got a fair amount of space between himself and the line, but he spills the ball soon after.

Catalans breathe a sigh of relief, yet they quickly maintain their high pace run upfield.

    This is frantic stuff.

  15. NO TRYpublished at 15 mins

    Catalans 12-0 Leeds

I can't really say Leeds are playing badly at the minute, they're just not seeing as much of the ball as Catalans.

Case in point, David Mead has just pulled off a similar interception that Sam Tomkins pulled off earlier and eventually Catalans try to punt towards the onrushing Tom Davies.

The ball bobbles towards the try line and Ash Handley just about stops Davies from scoring his second try of the night.

  16. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Catalans 12-0 Leeds

Tremendous stuff from James Maloney who barges mid-air on Leeds' Richie Myler in order to thwart his efforts to try and receive a kick on the turnover.

He's penalised but he knew what he was doing.

  17. try

    Samisoni Langi, goal James Maloney

My word, Catalans aren't messing around tonight.

Samisoni Langi finds a pathway through to touch down and pile on the misery for Leeds in these early stages.

That's his sixth try of the campaign and it's followed by a successful James Maloney kick.

  18. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Catalans 6-0 Leeds

Having seen several replays of that Sam Tomkins dart upfield, I'm genuinely in awe of the pace he built up.

Although I guess it's easy for me, a man not known for his stamina, to be impressed watching a professional athlete while sat in front of the telly.

Meanwhile, Rhyse Martin tries to work a bit of magic for Leeds but he's held up by a resolute Catalans defence.

  19. try

What a try and what a start!

What a player Sam Tomkins is. He wins back the ball pretty much inside Leeds' 10 and finds space to run almost unchallenged deep into the Leeds half.

He offloads to Tom Davies who makes no mistake moments later and James Maloney adds the two.

  20. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

    Catalans 0-0 Leeds

Referee Chris Kendall sounds his whistle and Catalans get this game under way.

I'm predicting a fabulous 80 minutes between these two full strength sides.
