  3. 'Two best sides in the Grand Final'published at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2020

    FT: St Helens 48-2 Catalans

Catalans Dragons head coach Steve McNamara told Sky Sports:

"I'm disappointed with the finish on the scoreboard after the effort from everyone at the club this year.

"To get beaten like that is harsh. I have two men in the sin bin for a period of time.

"I thought it was a really physical game particularly in the first half. We weren't worried at half-time but the first few minutes of the second half cost us.

"Tonight's game is about St Helens and Wigan getting to the Grand Final and clearly those two teams are the best in the competition. We couldn't score a try and neither could Hull last night."

  4. 'Walmsley's injury is not serious'published at 21:43 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2020

    FT: St Helens 48-2 Catalans

St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf told Sky Sports:

"We were outstanding. I was really happy with the way we attacked. We controlled the game well and we backed that up with good defence.

"Alex Walmsley's injury isn't serious at all. It was bothering him a bit and having the opportunity to bring him off, we felt was the right thing to do. He'll be back next week.

"I haven't spoken to James Graham or the doctor yet but seven days means he can play if he comes through the protocol in the next week but I'd love to see him there."

  5. 'Two weeks off helped us'published at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 20 November 2020

    FT: St Helens 48-2 Catalans

St Helens full-back Lachlan Coote told Sky Sports:

"I'm very proud of the boys' effort. A couple of weeks ago we came into a lost and felt bad about it but the two weeks off helped us.

"We lifted the intensity in training and it showed tonight and it was a massive effort from the middles.

Goalkicking has been a focus this year but my form is due to the boys and the service I'm getting."

    St Helens 48-2 Catalans

They've done it, however it's been a foregone conclusion for quite some time.

St Helens go through to their first Super League Grand Final under Kristian Woolf and second in as many seasons.

Catalans miss the opportunity to progress to the final for the first time in their history.

    St Helens 48-2 Catalans

Catalans work the ball around St Helens 10 and desperately try to win a pathway through to get a consolation try.

But Saints win the ball back on the turnover and the visitors' attack is quelled before it even got going.

  8. try

TRY: St Helens 48-2 Catalanspublished at 74 mins

    Regan Grace, goal Lachlan Coote

Good lord, another try from deep from their own half. Regan Grace, you've made me out of breath just watching this mate.

He collects a high ball and runs in a good 80 metres unopposed.

He's such a talent. Lachlan Coote makes no mistake with the boot.

  9. try

TRY: St Helens 42-2 Catalanspublished at 70 mins

    Kevin Naiqama, goal Lachlan Coote

What a way to seal your hat-trick! Kevin Naiqama take a bow!

The St Helens man intercepts James Maloney's offload deep in his own 10 and runs almost the length of the field to touch down under the sticks.

Lachlan Coote, believe it or not, makes the two right in front of the posts.

    St Helens 36-2 Catalans

Dear oh dear. Alex Walmsley's not looked quite right all night since his knock early on.

He clutches his knee following a Matt Whitley tackle and he goes to ground in some discomfort.

That's not what St Helens want a week away from a potential Super League Grand Final.

  11. try

TRY: St Helens 36-2 Catalanspublished at 66 mins

    James Bentley, goal Lachlan Coote

St Helens pile on the misery now for Catalans and the Dragons' indiscipline come back to haunt them yet again.

James Bentley latches on to James Roby's offload to touch down moments after Ben Garcia went to the bin.

Lachlan Coote is given an easy kick and makes the two.

  12. SIN-BINpublished at 65 mins

    St Helens 30-2 Catalans

Another Catalans tackle that causes a row on the field.

This time Ben Garcia puts in a high arm on Jonny Lomax off the ball and he's sent to the bin.

That's the Dragons' second yellow card this evening. Pointless.

  13. Postpublished at 61 mins

    St Helens 30-2 Catalans

There's some more afters on the field, this time following a high David Mead tackle on Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook

I get that it's a semi-final and massive games can be tense, but Catalans have been doing this all night and look short of answers as to actually score points.

Mead avoids a yellow card, just.

  14. try

TRY: St Helens 30-2 Catalanspublished at 56 mins

    Jonny Lomax, goal Lachlan Coote

All over. St Helens have done their homework and they've not let Catalans' robust tactics faze them in the slightest.

Jack Welsby is inspired in the build-up to this as he helps send Jonny Lomax through to touch down right behind the posts.

Lachlan Coote adds two more points for their trouble.

  15. try

TRY: St Helens 24-2 Catalanspublished at 51 mins

    Lachlan Coote, goal Lachlan Coote

Another try for Lachlan Coote! Surely St Helens are in next week's Grand Final now.

All this comes from Jack Welsby putting off Sam Tomkins as he looks to collect a high ball and Saints work it to Coote who crosses over having found a gap in the Catalans defence.

Coote adds the two and if Catalans fancy actually scoring a try, right now might be a good idea lads.

  16. Postpublished at 48 mins

    St Helens 18-2 Catalans

Tommy Makinson has just wiggled his way through a crowd of Catalan players after receiving a high kick.

Moments later Benjamin Garcia absolutely takes out Lachlan Coote.

To be honest, at this stage I think Catalans' only tactics are just to bullishly tackle anyone and everyone they can because they've got few answers as to how to even keep possession for longer than a few passes upfield.

  17. try

TRY: St Helens 18-2 Catalanspublished at 43 mins

    Kevin Naiqama

What a start for St Helens! Outstanding!

Tommy Makinson kicks under pressure on a Saints break and Kevin Naiqama bags his second try of the night as he races in to touch it down.

All this comes from a monster of a kick from Theo Fages on halfway.

Lachlan Coote hits the post from his conversion attempt.

James Maloney very much at the centre of this first half and not for the right reasons.

The Catalans half-back's yellow card for a high arm on Regan Grace has changed this game and St Helens have gone on to take a 12-point lead in at the break.

A lot for Dragons boss Steve McNamara to contemplate at half-time.

Saints, however, have lost James Graham and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook to HIA.

    A big 40 minutes awaits.
