What an end to the half and Huddersfield earn their narrow lead at the break against a formidable St Helens side.
Despite losing Tommy Makinson in the early stages, Saints grew into the game, but Huddersfield have matched them at every stage in a bruising first half and they are worthy of their advantage.
Darnell McIntosh, goal Aidan Sezer
Not the best kick away from Lachlan Coote on the restart to play but Huddersfield do well to work it tot he corner.
Darnell McIntosh scores a Regan Grace-esque diving try at the corner and that is sensational.
What a response! Aidan Sezer nails the conversation to send the Giants in on top at the break.
St Helens 10-6 Huddersfield
Huddersfield putting some decent pressure onto St Helens right before the break as the swing it either side of the field to try and run in at the corner.
In the end, they run out of tackles but force Saints into a goal line drop out.
Mark Percival, goal Lachlan Coote
What a try!
Jonny Lomax shakes off whatever he did to his arm to offload to Mark Percival inside Huddersfield's 10 and he steamrollers his way through about five Huddersfield players to touch down.
My word the strength you need to do that. Lachlan Coote makes up for his earlier missed conversion as he adds the two.
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
St Helens' Jonny Lomax is down now, clutching his arm following a valiant effort to halt a Huddersfield attack upfield.
That attack ended courtesy of a limp forward pass from the Giants, but Lomax looks to have come off worse from a tackle to Aidan Sezer in the build-up.
He carries on soon after, but he looks in some discomfort.
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
Now it's Huddersfield's turn to hold up play, this time as Kenny Edwards goes down with an injury after being brought down in the process of trying to get the Giants out of their own half.
Meanwhile, the incident involving Lee Gaskell and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook has now been put on report as play continues after Edwards receives treatment.
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
St Helens might lose Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook after he walks to the sidelines to receive treatment after a race to score their second try.
He looks to get in under the posts but Adam O'Brien holds him up and Lee Gaskell races into his ribs as he goes down.
Not sure how necessary that was, given O'Brien had it covered, but here we are!
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
Blimey. St Helens look to have scored a cheeky try but it's not given.
Kevin Naiqama sends a good kick in towards the posts, Josh Jones looks to ground the ball in his own goal area before Alex Walmsley touches down after the ball rolls underneath Jones.
Referee James Child gives no try but sends it upstairs who agree after seeing a number of angles of Jones getting the ball down before Walmsley races onto it.
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
There's a break in play as Kevin Naiqama receives some treatment after he comes off worse in a tackle.
He's cleared to continue as St Helens look to keep up their recent momentum.
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
Huddersfield still edging out St Helens by two points so far but Saints have had a good spell for the past 10 minutes or so.
Kevin Naiqama leaps high to claim a Huddersfield high kick as St Helens do well to build some momentum here.
St Helens 4-6 Huddersfield
It's worth pointing out that Regan Grace signed a new contract with St Helens this week and, given his prolific record for the club, you can see why they were eager to tie him down.
He's just got them back into this game after a pretty lukewarm start for the reigning Super League champions.
Regan Grace
My word what an athlete Regan Grace is.
Theo Fages puts in an accurate kick inside Huddersfield's 10, it bounces towards Regan Grace who picks up the ball within milimetres of knocking on then beats three Giants players to ground the ball.
Sensational. His eighth try of the season. Lachlan Coote misses the extras, however.
St Helens 0-6 Huddersfield
Theo Fages looks to put a clever kick in as St Helens pressure Huddersfield but once again Lee Gaskell collects the ball.
The Giants have been excellent defensively in the first quarter of an hour but you can't write off Saints, with or without Tommy Makinson.
St Helens 0-6 Huddersfield
Lee Gaskell collects a high Lachlan Coote kick as St Helens look to force Huddersfield into an error on the turnover.
Gaskell takes the ball on his own try-line with ease as the Giants continue to frustrate Saints early doors in this one.
St Helens 0-6 Huddersfield
Huddersfield are down for what looks like another try from an Aidan Sezer kick into St Helens' goal area.
However referee James Child immediately waves away their calls and gives a knock on in the build-up.
A let off for Saints, who are apparently assessing Tommy Makinson, but surely he is unlikely to play any further part tonight.
Michael Lawrence, goal Aidan Sezer
What a start for Huddersfield!
Michael Lawrence works onto a neat Aidan Sezer grubber kick that has St Helens fooled and he touches down with ease right by the posts.
Sezer kicks the two to give Ian Watson's side the perfect start.
St Helens 0-0 Huddersfield
Jack Welsby is sporting a hell of a shiner today which he picked up in St Helens' game against Leigh last time around.
Bruised, battered and now lacking Tommy Makinson, can Saints take this game to Huddersfield in the early stages?
St Helens 0-0 Huddersfield
Oh dear. Tommy Makinson looks to have picked up an injury and the St Helens man is ambling his way to the sidelines.
Not what Saints will have wanted. He's lasted just three minutes on his comeback from a foot injury.
