TRY - York City Knights 6-28 St Helenspublished at 58 mins

    Carrie Roberts

Saints carve a way through the York City defence once again.

It's a backs move worked straight from the restart, as the ball goes through the hands to the right.

Rebecca Rotherham pops the ball to Carrie Roberts, and the centre sniffs a gap in the Knights line.

She beats Bettie Lambert for pace, holds off Savannah Andrade and full-back Emma Hardy can't stop her scoring in the right-hand corner.

It's too wide for Beth Stott to add the extra two points.

A handling error by Ellie Hendry halts York City Knights' momentum as they look to work their way up the pitch.

Knights hooker Sinead Peach gets some treatment to her left hand, with her thumb needing some strapping.

Saints will restart five metres inside the Knights half.

What response do York City Knights have now?

They were on top before the ball was gifted to Emily Rudge, and Saints were clinical in attack once again.

Every error is being punished by the Super League leaders.

They're just a well-drilled, well-oiled unit. Everyone slips back into their positions and they all know what they're doing.

    That's too easy for Woosey.

That was so seamless. That's why St Helens are the benchmark.

TRY - York City Knights 6-24 St Helenspublished at 54 mins

    Rachael Woosey

This score might snuff out the York City Knights comeback.

Emily Rudge's break over halfway gives Saints some territory to play with.

Jodie Cunningham is again the player to break open the Knights defence, as she picks out Rachael Woosey on the right win.

Woosey touches down in the corner for her second of the game.

Beth Stott can't add the extras.

York City Knights 6-20 St Helens

The momentum is with York City Knights now.

Saints have barely had the ball or got out of their own half.

Then Rhiannon Marshall sends a kick straight at Emily Rudge, and the Saints back row breaks into the Knights half.

    That'll relieve the pressure...

    It's game on.

St Helens will be wanting to calm this game down now.

    Sinead Peach, con Rhiannon Marshall

York City finally have their try!

Sinead Peach puts in a grubber kick on the last.

Full-back Rebecca Rotherham gets down to the ball but then loses her grip and it goes loose, and Peach gets to it and dabs down.

Referee Marcus Griffiths awards the try. A bit of controversy there...

Rhiannon Marshall adds the extras, and the Knights are back in it.

A high tackle gives York City a penalty inside the Saints half.

They spread the ball left to winger Bettie Lambert, but she is tackled into touch by a combination of Carrie Roberts and Rachael Woosey.

The Knights are putting in a spirited display in an attempt to get back into the match.

York City Knights 0-20 St Helens

York City Knights go for a high kick on the fifth tackle this time.

Kelsey Gentles gathers it five metres out and keeps the ball alive, but then Ellie Hendry is stopped short of the St Helens line.

There's no way through for the team in yellow.

York City Knights 0-20 St Helens

York City Knights start the second half on top and a couple of infringements give them possession in the Saints 22.

But it's the same old story.

The Knights can't find a way through the defensive ranks, and Rhiannon Marshall is held up on the last tackle and possession is turned over to the leaders.

It's a tough task to come back from a 20-point deficit in the final, 40 minutes becomes 30, 30 minutes becomes 20 and time runs out.

York need to put some points on the board early.

York City Knights couldn't take their opportunities in the first half, but can Lindsay Anfield's side find a way back into the game after the restart?

The Knights got into the Saints 22 on several occasions, but couldn't find a way through the defensive lines.

A sunny day makes for draining conditions at Leigh Sports Village.

St Helens are 40 minutes away from winning their first Women's Challenge Cup. The Knights need points, and soon.

Saints reach the break in firm control of the Women's Challenge Cup final.

But it was a closer half than the scoreline suggests.

York City Knights started well before Danielle Bush got the opening try.

Rachael Woosey then crossed before Jodie Cunningham set up Emily Rudge and Amy Hardcastle to both run in from distance.

All the vision, all the determination, everything came to play there.

There's very few people on the planet who could catch her.

    That was too easy.

  18. try

CONVERTED TRY - York City Knights 0-20 St Helenspublished at 37 mins

    Amy Hardcastle, con Beth Stott

Amy Hardcastle comes to the party with a brilliant solo run.

Jodie Cunningham is once again the architect, drawing in a couple of Knights defenders before feeding the centre.

Hardcastle doesn't need a second invitation, bursting forward with a powerful run into the York City half before touching down under the posts.

No-one can catch the England international, who is also front-line worker for the NHS.

It's another conversion for Beth Stott.

That's a tough defensive tackle to make. She takes on the full-back, there's a little bit of footwork and she runs to the try-line.

Look at that run. look at that determination. Enough energy, power and speed to hold off Kelsey Gentles.

That's what you want to be remembered for - scoring a runaway try under the post in the final.
