  1. Au revoir!published at 22:00 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    FT: Catalans 28-10 Hull KR

Well that's where we leave you tonight.

Another momentous occasion in the history of the Super League sees Catalans Dragons reach their very first Grand Final.

    But who will they face?

We've got another semi-final tomorrow night and we get to do this all over again as reigning champions St Helens take on Leeds for the other spot at Old Trafford next week.

  2. 'We've got to go and win it now'published at 21:57 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    FT: Catalans 28-10 Hull KR

Catalans head coach Steve McNamara told Sky Sports:

"We've got to go and win it now. It's massive but so will going there and winning it.

"It was a really tough game tonight. We've got enough points on the game and we're really happy with it.

"It's awesome to have all the fans and my family here tonight. I think there was some anxiety about the group tonight but next week there won't be any."

  3. 'We will learn from this next year'published at 21:55 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    FT: Catalans 28-10 Hull KR

Hull KR coach Tony Smith told Sky Sports:

"We're disappointed. It's well deserved, Catalans outplayed us and kicked us to death. Our first half just wasn't good enough.

"Scorewise we were still in the game but our skill levels weren't good enough tonight to ask questions of them.

"We'll remember this next year and we will learn from it. I'm not going to put superlatives on it, they're a good bunch and I love them. They know it, they've tried really hard."

I've mentioned this earlier but what I've just worked out is that it was four years ago TODAY that Catalans contested the Million Pound Game to retain their Super League status.

This is some turnaround for the Perpignan side. And they've reached the Grand Final tonight with a fine performance without their talisman Sam Tomkins.

  5. 'Key is Sam Tomkins' fitness'published at 21:50 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

The key to Catalans success for me is Sam Tomkins' fitness. We've seen tonight that they weren't as clinical as previous weeks. This game could have been over and done with at half-time with the chances they had.

If he can get fit and get anywhere near the quality he's shown, potentially Man of Steel quality, if he can get on the field they've got a massive chance.

  6. 'You can see what it means to people'published at 21:47 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    FT: Catalans 28-10 Hull KR

Catalans half-back Josh Drinkwater told Sky Sports:

"It's unbelievable. We've worked so hard this year. It's been challenging but you see how much it means to the people.

"To our squad and the people who didn't play, they all deserve it, but there's one more game to go now.

"Hull KR can score tries out of nothing and we saw that late on. At half-time we didn't think we'd played well but we did enough to hold on."

  7. 'They'll be full of confidence'published at 21:44 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

Former England international on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

They've been the best side all year. Coming top of the table is a huge achievement for them and they'll go into the Grand Final full of confidence.

Now, a word for the job Tony Smith has done at Hull KR this year. Let's not forget they were bottom of the pile in 2020.

Fast forward to now and they've had a cracker of a season, finishing in the play-offs and dominating Warrington in their back yard last week.

It wasn't to be tonight, but there's a lot to be proud of and KR are on the up, that's for sure.

They've done it! The bumper crowd at the Stade Gilbert Brutus go wild as the hooter is sounded and Catalans have beaten Hull KR to go through to next week's Super League Grand Final.

It is yet another achievement for Steve McNamara in his tenure of the Perpignan side as they reach Old Trafford for the first time.

  10. PENALTY: Catalans 28-10 Hull KRpublished at 79 mins

    James Maloney

James Maloney kicks a late penalty and caps off his final home appearance for Catalans.

Catalans are heading to their first ever Grand Final and their fans are delighted. The noise is something else.

  11. Postpublished at 77 mins

    Catalans 26-10 Hull KR

Less than five minutes remain and, despite their 16-point advantage, Catalans look a bit nervy here.

Ryan Hall is causing the hosts plenty of problems here but time is ticking down.

  12. try

TRY: Catalans 26-10 Hull KRpublished at 75 mins

    Ryan Hall, goal Jordan Abdull

Is the most unlikeliest of comebacks on?

Ryan Hall goes over for the visitors and Jordan Abdull adds the two, but surely this is too late?

It's a 16th try of the season for Hall.

  13. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Catalans 26-4 Hull KR

Brad Takairangi passes the ball out of play at the end of a promising run for Hull KR as they desperately try and force a late comeback.

It comes after some good pressure from Micky McIlorum.

    Amazing stuff from the hosts.

  14. Postpublished at 70 mins

    Catalans 26-4 Hull KR

Let's not forget, four years ago Catalans were 80 minutes away from losing their place in Super League as they contested the Million Pound Game.

Since then they've gone strength to strength, winning the Challenge Cup the following year as well as this season's League Leaders' Shield.

    That is some rise.

I don't think there's anybody better than this in Super League than Josh Drinkwater. He always seems to get these kicks on the money.

  16. try

TRY: Catalans 26-4 Hull KRpublished at 68 mins

    Joe Chan, goal James Maloney

That is surely the try that sends Catalans to their first ever Super League Grand Final.

Dragons youngster Joe Chan comes off the bench to score a quickfire try as he races on to Josh Drinkwater's grubber kick to touch the ball down.

James Maloney's missed the last two kicks but nails the two on this occasion.

  17. 'That's kept them in the game'published at 21:21 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Catalans 20-4 Hull KR

    Jon Wilkin
Former England international on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Tomkins should have scored but it was a huge defensive effort. That's kept them in the game.

  18. NO TRYpublished at 65 mins

    Catalans 20-4 Hull KR

Joel Tomkins has dropped the ball right as he had spun and looked to go over for Catalans!

When he initially picks the ball up, he spins once to thwart Hull KR's attempts to tackle him and then as he gets to the line, he tries to spin again whilst going to ground but in the process he spills the ball courtesy of good pressure from Will Dagger.

That's a waste even if they are 16 points up.

  19. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Catalans 20-4 Hull KR

Shaun Kenny-Dowall has just pulled Catalans full-back Arthur Mourgue down by the neck as he broke away on the wing.

The home fans are livid. No wonder, that was high. The hosts get a penalty for their trouble.

The last thing Hull KR need now is to lose their heads.

  20. 'Nice amount of space for Catalans'published at 21:16 British Summer Time 30 September 2021

    Catalans 20-4 Hull KR

    Kevin Brown
Former England international half-back on BBC Radio 5 Live

20 minutes left in the game, that's big, a big breather for Catalans. It's just a nice amount of space between themselves and Hull KR.
