  5. 'Wigan gave us a lesson in second half'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: Wakefield 6-36 Wigan

Wakefield Trinity boss Willie Poching told BBC Two:

"It's disappointing after the effort and everything we worked on.

"We came up against a team that defended stoutly and defended with some energy. We had plenty of opportunities knocking on the door in the first half but we couldn't quite get the points that we were trying to work to.

"They gave us a bit of a lesson there in the second half.

"We move on now and focus on what will be a busy period coming up for us."

    Jamie Jones-Buchanan
Former Leeds Rhinos second-rower on BBC Two

Huddersfield have been outstanding this year, they have really gone under the radar.

With Theo Fages, Tui Lolohea and Chris McQueen, who has really impressed me, they have some offensive talent.

Tony Smith has got Hull KR playing with a lot of flair. They do things against the grain and challenge people.

  7. 'Defence paid of in the end'published at 16:35 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: Wakefield 6-36 Wigan

Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet told BBC Two:

"It was exactly the kind of game we expected. We know our record here isn't great and the way that Wakefield are playing we knew it would be a test.

"We did a lot of defending in the early stage of the game and that is what paid off in the end.

On Liam Farrell: "He is exactly what we want to be about, he is the ultimate professional. He turns up week in and week out and is very humble with how he goes about his work."

  8. Wigan will need 'desire in defence' to beat Saintspublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: Wakefield 6-36 Wigan

    Jamie Peacock
Former England captain on BBC Two

In the semi-final there will be periods when you don't have the ball and you have to absorb pressure for 10 minutes and Wigan showed today they can do that.

That's probably the only way they can beat St Helens.

You can only get the best out of your offensive players if you have that desire in defence.

  9. I'm just enjoying playing - Fieldpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: Wakefield 6-36 Wigan

Wigan Warriors' hat-trick scorer Jai Field told BBC Two:

"They came out firing and this is always a tough, hostile place to play.

"Last year I got hurt and right now I'm just enjoying playing. I'm just trying to do my job for the team and want to continue doing that.

  10. 'Big effort from the lads'published at 16:23 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: Wakefield 6-36 Wigan

Wigan Warriors' Liam Farrell told BBC Two:

"After the tough start we had, obviously Wakefield had a lot of possession, to come away with the scoreline we have is a real big effort from the lads. To put 36 points on them in a quarter-final is really pleasing.

"A lot of the lads were gassed. Wakefield is not an easy place to come. The first 20 minutes we held in well, then the later part of the game really helped us out."

Former Warrington assistant coach on BBC Two

Defensively Wigan absorbed so much pressure in that first half and you have to admire that.

They didn't have a lot of field position, absorbed so much pressure from that positive start from Wakefield but have somehow come alive in the second half.

Their key players have really stepped up and they've had that cutting edge.
