Huddersfield have been a lot better in these nine minutes of the second half but Marc Sneyd has come up with a play and Ryan Brierley has won the race.

While 22 points is not beyond any team, it does look like it's beyond Huddersfield. They need to do something pretty radical to turn this tide.

    It's given.

That Salford try could be the decisive score, here. It's a long way back for Huddersfield, now.

Ryan Brierley successfully touches down from Marc Sneyd's kick under the posts.

It all comes from Leroy Cudjoe's tackle on Brierley, which ended up giving Salford field position.

    Sneyd adds the two.

Leroy Cudjoe could be in trouble here for a possible crusher tackle on Ryan Brierley.

Replays don't make it look any better. Brierley is okay, having rubbed his neck.

Ultimately, referee Robert Hicks allows play to continue soon after.

Salford are being tested. They need to keep this Huddersfield team out and get away from their own line.

A reminder of the layout of next week's semi-finals depending on today's result.

If Salford win, by being the lowest ranked team left, they will face League Leaders' Shield winners St Helens.

If Huddersfield win, they will take on Wigan, while last night's winners Leeds would face Saints.

Strong defence from Salford as Ricky Leutele is dragged into touch by Ken Sio and Deon Cross.

That comes after a sustained spell of early pressure in this second half by Huddersfield.

    Huddersfield 0-16 Salford

Bad news for Salford as they get this second half going - they will be without Brodie Croft as he's failed his head injury assessment.

Should they progress, he will miss next week's semi-final, too.

We're back under way at the John Smith's Stadium, a setting where Huddersfield have lost only once so far this season - against League Leaders' Shield winners St Helens.

A big half awaits. Can they hold on or will Ian Watson mastermind a comeback against his former club?

Salford need to stick to the processes of what they do in the second half. They don't need to force it too much.

Hopefully Brodie Croft comes back from his head assessment, but Paul Rowley knows how well his team are playing and they will want to score some tries attacking their fans.

Once you are in the play-offs you have to deliver, and Huddersfield didn't deliver at the start.

Salford were able to play, offload and change direction and Huddersfield just watched them.

Huddersfield can't allow any errors as that allows Salford to play. They have to take a lot of petrol out of Salford early in the second half.

Some boos from the home fans. Huddersfield have a lot of work to do.

Salford keep them scoreless at the break thanks to tries from Joe Burgess and Kallum Watkins.

Despite having Ryan Brierley sent to the bin, Salford kept their 16-point lead as Huddersfield failed to make their player advantage count.

    Huddersfield look short of answers.

Joe Burgess sends a speculative offload onto the wing on Salford's final tackle as they swarm the Giants once more, but the final kick can't quite be met.

At the other end, Huddersfield rush upfield and pressure Brodie Croft who receives some attention from the physio in the aftermath.

Salford are back to 13 after Ryan Brierley's time in the bin came to an end.

Huddersfield could do with a try before half-time, here. Meanwhile, Marc Sneyd put in a fantastic 40-20 kick and Salford look more comfortable than they did just five minutes ago.

Deon Cross kicks a loose ball that Huddersfield fail to pick up and he runs into plenty of space in the Huddersfield half.

But his follow-up kick is too tame and he can't quite pick the ball up in time before the Giants regroup.
