  2. York 'will come back better'published at 17:45 British Summer Time 18 September 2022

    FT: York 4-12 Leeds

York head coach Lindsay Anfield: "Some bad decision and poor execution from us, but credit to Leeds. They came out all guns blazing. Caitlin Beevers dealt with everything.

"At the start of the season, if someone had said to me that we'd win the League Leaders' Shield and reach a Grand Final, I'd have snapped their hand off.

"I couldn't be prouder of them today. I thought it was a really good game. The skills and talent that's out there - I hope people give the girls credit for what they dan do. It's just experience in these big games. We'll come back better next year."

  3. Forsell 'really proud' of Leedspublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 18 September 2022

Leeds head coach Lois Forsell has also been speaking to Sky Sports: "We put ourselves under quite a bit of pressure, but you almost feel comfortable knowing how the girls will scramble. I'm really proud of them.

"Massive respect for the girls and the team. For the girls to give me their time and respect, and for the club to back me. It just shows what a great club this is."

The future is bright for York. If you had said three of four years ago that York City Knights would be playing in a Grand Final, they would have laughed in your face.

As a group of girls they have played outstanding this season and they have far exceeded everyone's expectations.

At the start of the season people were expecting it to be a two-horse race between Leeds and Saints and we've smashed all expectations. I've proud of every single girl who has pulled on a York shirt this season.

We've been brilliant and deserved to get to a final.

  5. 'A phenomenal game' - Beeverspublished at 17:34 British Summer Time 18 September 2022

    FT: York 4-12 Leeds

Player of the match Caitlin Beevers told Sky Sports: "There's no doubt that York are a really tough side. "They put us through our paces, and that was a just a phenomenal game for women's rugby league.

"Since they beat us before we've been looking in depth at what they do. I'm really proud of the girls today.

"It's a massive team effort, we've found a togetherness. I'm hoping that girls here watching today can see where they want to be - I never had that.

"I hope it's put me in contention [for England], everyone wants to play in a World Cup, especially at home."

Brainless rugby league from York - they infringe twice in defence, and gift Leeds two set restarts.

Leeds' scramble defence is what is keeping them in front.

Anything could happen because York's strike players could pull something out of nothing - Sinead Peach has just run through the middle of the Leeds defence - so they are capable of anything.
