York Valkyrie ensure the engravers get to inscribe a new name on the silverware of the's Women's Super League trophy, beating Leeds Rhinos in this showpiece.

The culmination of a season's work sees Leeds dethroned after they had done the same to St Helens in 2022.

With the likes of Tara Jane Stanley and Sinead Peach also up for individual awards and an unbeaten league season, York have been remarkable in 2023 and are certainly the team to beat for 2024.

It's not all rest just yet. There's a Test against Wales for the women to come, many of whom were out there today.

We're not done yet either. The men's competition will be completed next Saturday, and the wheelchair on Sunday. You'll find coverage of both, here on BBC Sport.

Until then. Congratulations York, commiserations Leeds. What a fine event it has been.

It's so sweet for those ex-Castleford girls who like their boss, had so many disappointments before today at the final hurdle. Sinead Peach was another of them of course.

Today is made all the more special by the adversity.

The rest of the Rhinos, notably the younger contingent, are showing their disappointment a little more noticably.

Hanna Butcher gives a rueful look. She came out of retirement to help her club. Might this be the last hurrah.

Leeds will feel the hurt but a side who had all sorts to deal with this season from player departures, to injuries, to suspensions, came through it all and came within 80 minutes of retaining their crown.

Rhinos had a few chances, but found York just too strong this time. They will be back. That's for sure.

Not seen enough of Zoe Hornby and Amy Hardcastle today for me.

They're two of Leeds' most destructive ball-carriers but to be fair to York, they've not allowed them ball to do their usual damage.

York have managed the game very well.
