    York 4-0 Leeds

York march downfield with drives from Elisa Akpa and Emma Kershaw.

Tara Jane Stanley pops up in the line, looking to pick out Carrie Roberts on the right edge, but her cut out ball spills out of the England centre's grasp.

Leeds seek to mount their own attack, but Lucy Murray is unable to take a pass from Hanna Butcher and York have a 20 metre scrum.

    York 4-0 Leeds

Rhiannon Marshall is on off the bench and her first involvement is to steamroll her way into the Leeds line.

Former Rhinos player of course. She can play too, great hands for a powerful forward.

    York 4-0 Leeds

York are really fired up now.

Great set finishes with a kick into the Leeds 10, but Caitlin Beevers hits the ball at full-pelt and the pendulum swings the other way.

Leeds bite in. Last-tackle play, Caitlin Casey dinks over the top.

Georgie Hetherington spills it, Casey chases her own kick, but the penalty is given for offside.

    Let off for York.

I thought York had made the wrong choice on the pitch at the time.

But the fans knew it was a try - the moment the ball hit the ground they were cheering.

York have just got to stay composed now.

York score a tryImage source, SWPix.com

Superb try and a very good finish by Tamzin Renouf for York.

She had two Leeds defenders to cope with in Sophie Nuttall and Amy Hardcastle, but with little space to work in she just squeezes in and gets it down.

Tara Jane Stanley cannot convert. But it's advantage Valkyrie.

    York 0-0 Leeds

    Brilliant play by York.

First Lacey Owen is denied after a switch-line. Lovely dart for the line but she's held out.

Then Tamzin Renouf forces her way over out wide. Is she in? It's gone to the video referee...

    York 0-0 Leeds

Leeds full-back Ruby Enright is pinged for stripping the ball from Sade Rihari, and York welt the kick to touch.

Tap on the 30 with Carrie Roberts...

    York 0-0 Leeds

Huge drive by York's Elisa Akpa, chewing up yards and creating a position in the Leeds red-zone.

However, Liv Gale's kick is taken brilliantly by Amy Hardcastle.

Leeds power forward, strong carries from Keara Bennett and Bethan Dainton, and Caitlin Casey forces York to bring it out from deep thanks to a perfectly-weighted kick into the in-goal.

  10. Postpublished at 10 mins

    York 0-0 Leeds

Georgie Hetherington pokes her nose through the line and screams into space for York, promoting a desperate scramble to drag her down.

Valkyrie test Leeds out on the left, but are held out, then Tara Jane Stanley bangs a kick to the corner, but Caitlin Beevers was outstanding in claiming the ball on the full.

Really good tempo and linebreaks just starting to rack up.

  11. Postpublished at 8 mins

    York 0-0 Leeds

Poor end to the set by Leeds, as Hanna Butcher pumps a kick right down the throat of Georgie Hetherington.

Before that we saw the lively Keara Bennett scamper into space and chew up some metres.

    York must be wary.

    York 0-0 Leeds

Liv Gale gets a chink of a gap and zips through it for York and the fans get a bit of a buzz from it.

At the same time, the kick is returned with interest by Caitlin Beevers.

Keara Bennett's probing from acting half is a real threat for the Rhinos. She always seems to pick the right pass.

Good arm-wrestle at the moment. Two sides just slugging it out.

York turn the tide of pressure with a really good set on the back of that spell of pressure.

Solid yards made and a good kick by Tara Jane Stanley putting Leeds back in their own 10.

Less teeth-grinding required for Valkyrie director of rugby Lindsay Anfield.

  14. NO TRY LEEDSpublished at 4 mins

    York 0-0 Leeds

Caitlin Beevers was denied, Carrie Roberts does brilliantly along with Sinead Peach to get in before the ball was grounded and keep it short of the line.

Warning shot though for York. Early raids proving a menace.

  15. 'Great last-ditch defence'published at 15:06 British Summer Time 8 October 2023

    Andrea Dobson

If it isn't a try then what a cover tackle.

There was some great last-ditch defence from York.

  16. TRY REVIEW LEEDSpublished at 3 mins

    York 0-0 Leeds

Leeds again steam forward. Zoe Hornby sets a point for the Rhinos.

Then, the ball goes left, Caitlin Beevers tries to plunge in from close range.

Liam Rush sends it up to the video referee...

  17. Postpublished at 3 mins

    York 0-0 Leeds

Great work on the back of the error by Leeds to force a repeat set.

They marched York downfield and Caitlin Casey finished with a smart kick which was gathered by Georgie Hetherington but she was taking over the dead-ball line.

Leeds get it back from the drop-out...

First hit-up by Carrie Roberts is powerful. But then Sinead Peach makes a rare error, knocking on at the play-the-ball to hand Leeds initiative.

    Test for York.

Two relaxed teams with plenty of smiles from both sides as they head out of the tunnel.

Glad to see the players can enjoy this rather than be spooked by nerves.
