  1. Will Super Sam get his dream showdown?

FT: Catalans Dragons 12-6 St Helens

    Sam Tomkins of Catalans Dragons

Catalans Dragons will get back on the plane over to north west England one more time as they head to Old Trafford on 14 October.

Sam Tomkins' solo score in the last minute ensures that he gets one final crack at landing the Super League crown.

He said that he wants a shot at his old club, Wigan Warriors, in the Grand Final.

We will be back tomorrow lunchtime to see if his wish comes true when Wigan play Hull KR at the DW Stadium.

Thanks for your company this evening and as Catalans celebrate, it's au revoir et bonne nuit!

  2. 'A defeat that is tough to take'

FT: Catalans Dragons 12-6 St Helens

St Helens head coach Paul Wellens told Sky Sports:

"There's a lot of emotions going on right now. We came here confident we could get a result.

"At some point this run was going to end and we hoped it wasn't tonight. If it was going to end, like tonight, a group of men dying for each other is the way to end it.

"Right now it is tough to take.

"It's been a challenging year. It started off unbelievably well down in Australia and we had our tough periods but this team stuck together.

"I've always been associated with this club and I'm immensely proud to be associated with this group of players.

"Professionally, sport at the top end is about high margins. We gave absolutely everything and as a coach right now I couldn't have asked for any more."

  3. Someone has to break Grand Final monopoly - McNamara

FT: Catalans Dragons 12-6 St Helens

    Catalans boss Steve McNamara

Catalans Dragons boss Steve McNamara told Sky Sports:

"What a game. What a hard game. There was nothing in it with both teams. It was such a hard game.

"We dropped our intensity at the start of the second half and let Saints back in it. We'd practised scenarios like this for the past few weeks and it was an incredible effort from them.

"It was a shame for both teams. They must be distraught. St Helens are a champion team. But we found a way. We've improved so many things at our club and team in the past two years.

"I wasn't quite so sure with 15 minutes to go, but we're there and now we're going to compete to win a Grand Final.

"It's been monopolised by four teams, if you include Bradford. Someone's got to break that dominance. We'll get another chance in eight days' time."

  4. End of the line for Roby

    Catalans Dragons 12-6 St Helens

For 79 minutes, St Helens defended superbly keeping their tryline unbroken.

But for a moment of magic from Sam Tomkins, they would be heading into extra-time with a shot at making it to Old Trafford.

They're not and that is how the story ends for skipper James Roby.

There will be no fifth straight Super League crown for him or for the Saints.

  5. Winning is unbelievable - Tomkins

FT: Catalans Dragons 12-6 St Helens

Sam Tomkins scores the winning try for Catalans v St Helens

Catalans Dragons full-back Sam Tomkins told Sky Sports:

"What an ending. It was a tough game and what you expect against a quality side but the determination we showed and intent in our defence was remarkable at times.

"It was hot and sweaty and people had bumps and bruises but we got there in the end.

"When they went down to 12 men I knew there'd be space somewhere and I could step in on my good leg and find a way through.

"The games that you win like this, this is why we play. You play to be on the big stage. You've got to have winners and losers but winning is unbelievable.

"Just before I left the changing rooms, the last thing Steve said to me was 'think about what we spoke about when we signed you, you can be part of the first team to win a Grand Final at the club.'

"I'm glad I've given us a chance in my last home game."
