For the first time this autumn, the remnants of the old National Stadium North Stand are not covered in the biggest Welsh flag most of us have ever seen. There's only one reason for that- the All Blacks are in town and Wales need their dragons to breathe some fire on the field.

  2. Here come Walespublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

The All Blacks form a circle and the crowd roars and the flame throwers go into overdrive as Sam Warburton leads out the Welsh team to a deafening roar.

  3. The atmosphere is buildingpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

There are two giant flags on the pitch and the All Blacks are coming down the tunnel led by Richie McCaw who runs out on his own to a great ovation from the Cardiff crowd.

  4. An odds talepublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

Bookmakers generally don't believe in fairy tales or happy endings, so unsurprisingly they don't expect history to be made in Cardiff today. New Zealand are 6-1 on to win a 26th consecutive game against Wales, while it's 6-1 against a Welsh victory. The draw, if you fancy an afternoon on the fence, averages 33-1.

  5. The All Blacks' viewpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

New Zealand head coach Steve Hansen isn't taking anything for granted.

"We have picked the best team we can because this [Wales] side is a good side," he's told S4C.

  6. Gatland's hopespublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

Wales coach Warren Gatland talking to BBC Sport's Sonja McLaughlan: "We want to beat the southern hemisphere teams. If you look two years ago England beat them (New Zealand) in the last game of the tour, Ireland should have won last year. They've been on the road for nine weeks and maybe they're a bit tired. The boys are nervous but they're excited."

  7. What do you think?published at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

The odds may be against Wales, but what do you reckon? Returning centre Jonathan Davies thinks his team can succeed.

Former Wales and Lions captain on BBC Radio Wales

"I think we're privileged to be here to today to see Richie McCaw lead the All Blacks for the 100th time. I want to see a Wales win but I want to see us show respect for one of the greatest players I've ever seen."

  10. Not invinciblepublished at 17:07 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

Clutching at straws perhaps, but . . . . Cardiff is not always a happy hunting ground for the All Blacks.

There have been three defeats in addition to 1905, 1935 and 1953 victories for Wales.

The famous 23-11 win by the Barbarians over New Zealand in 1973 was at Cardiff Arms Park and their dream of winning the 2007 World Cup ended at the Millennium Stadium when they were beaten 20-18 by France in the quarter final. And in 1999 South Africa beat the All Blacks 22-18 in the World Cup third place play off - again at the Millennium Stadium.

  11. It isn't always one-sidedpublished at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

There have been some close calls over the years - notably in 1978 and 2004 when the All Blacks won by a point. In '79 the infamous dive by Andy Haden and Frank Oliver is what's remembered from a game the All Blacks won 13-12 with Stu Wilson scoring the only try of the match. In 2004 another legendary wing - Joe Rokocoko - produced a moment of magic to break Welsh hearts in a 25-26 defeat.

In 12 matches this millennium, Wales have conceded an average of 37.6 points per game to the All Blacks and have lost those Tests by an average margin of 23.5 points.

In all matches, stretching back to 1905, Wales have scored 291 points against the All Blacks in 29 matches (average of 10 points per match) and conceded 882 (average of 30 per match). The Welsh have scored just 25 tries in those 25 games, compared with 111 for New Zealand.

Amid all the talk of Richie McCaw's 100th cap as New Zealand captain, a few notable Welsh marks are also on the cards today in Cardiff.

McCaw's open-side opponent Sam Warburton makes his 50th Wales appearance, as will lock Luke Charteris if he comes off the bench.

Keeping Charteris company is veteran scrum-half Mike Phillips, who will win his 95th Wales cap if he comes on - taking the Racing Metro player to 100 Test caps when adding in his five British and Irish Lions Test appearances, three in South Africa in 2009 and two more against Australia in 2013.

Wales wing Alex Cuthbert will make his 30th Wales appearance and number eight Taulupe Faletau his 40th.

Richie McCaw cements his place as one of the true greats in the history of rugby union when he leads the All Blacks for the 100th time in a Test match today. And what a record - 87 wins, two draws and just 10 defeats. Little wonder dad Don and mum Margaret look so proud of their son.

  19. The autumn so farpublished at 16:41 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2014

For the Welsh it was the usual story as Australia staged a late comeback to win 33-28 in the first game of the November Test series, and Warren Gatland's team were far from convincing as they beat Fiji 17-13 last Saturday with the visitors down to 14 men for more than 20 minutes in the second half.

The All Blacks have been their usual efficient selves without pulling up any trees - seeing off England 24-21 in Twickenham and claiming a 24-16 win over the Scots.
