Like or not, Leicester Tigers have a reputation for a particularly dogged style of play, built on a massive pack to bully and dominate the set-piece.

However, the current Tigers incarnation have done much to buck that trend, particularly with the appointment of ex-All Black Aaron Mauger as head coach to complement the rugby brain of director of rugby Richard Cockerill.

Throw in exciting talent such as Wallabies three-quarter Peter Betham, Kiwi flanker Brendon O'Connor and club captain Ed Slater, and the Tigers have different dimensions to their usual physicality.

"We test each other, we work well with each other and, crucially, we question each other too,"Cockerill said in his Leicester Mercury column this week., external

"Our skill-sets are very different but his is perfect for what we needed to bring into the club, so it fits very well."

The unfortunate events in Paris over the opening weekend of matches meant the postponement of an eagerly-awaited encounter with European Champions Cup holder Toulon at the Stade Mayol.

However, Mike Ford's side were able to stage their second group stage match against former champions Leinster at The Rec last weekend, and showed their ability to match the Pro12 side with a hard-earned 19-16 victory.

It came down to a battle of the 10s, with England's George Ford outscoring Ireland's extremely gifted Jonathan Sexton to seal the win.

  7. What's up for grabs?published at 14:45

    Leicester v Bath (15:00 GMT)

Well a Tigers win would see them jump up to third above Harlequins and in behind Exeter in third place.

Maximum points for Bath - including the try bonus point, of course - would take them to at least fourth.

There's a tough 80 minutes for both to achieve that though of course.

Strong starting XVs for both, some depth to the benches too.

    Let's get some team news.

  12. Fortress Welford Roadpublished at 14:32

    Leicester v Bath (15:00 GMT)

Leicester certainly have history on their side when it comes to this fixture, at Welford Road at the very least.

Bath's last successful trip to the East Midlands was back in 2003, edging by a single point a Tigers side bolstered by the return of recent World Cup winning captain Martin Johnson.

Even then, that was the first win there since 1995. So hoodoo is probably an understatement.

At The Rec it's a different story, as last season's 45-0 and 47-10 victories - the latter in a Premiership semi-final no less - testify.

If there was ever a game to symbolise English club rugby, then perhaps it is Leicester versus Bath.

Two clubs steeped in history, to some extent purveyors of different brands and styles of the game, from separate union hotbeds.

Today's match at Welford Road is the 188th meeting of the two powerhouses, so settle down and follow it via radio and text commentary here with BBC Sport.
