England attack at lightning speed... Owen Farrell releasing Jack Nowell and the winger sprints like a panther down the right flank and England recycle...

Pressure building, will Ireland fold like a souffle? Inevitably so. The hosts spin it wide and any number could score but it's Anthony Watson who touches down on the left wing. Owen Farrell misses the conversion to the left of the posts.

  2. England 9-10 Irelandpublished at 55 mins

James Haskell is back on the field, but Ireland have already earned turnover ball... Conor Murray wrapping his body around Mike Brown with Stuart McCloskey as his aide.

A put-in for Ireland at the scrum near the halfway line it will be. We're entering the critical stage of the match...

Claire Rivett: Same old England. Too much indecision and too many penalties. Do we not know the laws and rules of the game we play? No excuse.

  4. England 9-10 Irelandpublished at 53 mins

A guttural roar from Owen Farrell as England's forwards stem the green tide, stealing possession at the breakdown just when England's defence seemed to be rocking.

England's faithful fans break into song, something about chariots swinging low...

    Matt Dawson
2003 World Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 live

“The introduction of Jack Clifford could be exciting for England as Robshaw and Haskell have been relatively trundling presences compared to Vunipola.”

  6. England 9-10 Irelandpublished at 52 mins

A dreamy show and go from Stuart McCloskey, which further galvanizes the visitors. Ireland now playing in opposition territory, gathering momentum, and homing in on England's 22...

Luke: How are Ireland still in this game let alone winning it? They have offered nothing for 45 minutes.

James Standen: Just seen England's game template there, finish the half strongly, then after HT give away a silly yellow and a try. Same old.

  8. Penalty - Farrellpublished at 50 mins

Possession spills from one side to another... Ireland squander their own line-out... England kick possession... Keith Earls knocks on under the high ball... Billy Vunipola's handling lets him down...

But Ireland were the first to err, which gives Owen Farrell the chance to reduce the arrears with a 40m howitzer.

Only Jonny Wilkinson and Paul Grayson have scored more Six Nations points for England than the England centre.

    Denis Hickie
Former Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 live

“All of a sudden this game has turned on its head. England have been slow out of the traps and showed a little bit of indiscipline.”

James Haskell didn't inflict too much damage as Conor Murray turns into a prime poacher, sneaking through on the blindside from a breakdown to touch down.

A marvellous conversion near the touchline from Johnny Sexton to rub salt into English wounds.

Stephen Pearce: Another game showing we need the bonus point system in the Six Nations. Two games 6-3 at half-time this weekend. #excitingstuff, external.

Tim Horgan: If Ireland don't start holding onto possession for more than thirty seconds at a time, this game is over.

Ian Bradley: Too many penalties but spent first half knocking on the door and sure it will open, come on England.

    Try and stay awake, Stephen.

A second chance for Ireland at the line-out on England's 22 after messing up the first one. England's defence is a brick wall, though, Ireland unable to enter the 22...

But the officials have seen something... a dangerous tackle by James Haskell on Conor Murray, the scrum-half falling to the ground like a featherweight felled by a heavyweight punch.

The flanker is shown a yellow card. England down to 14 men.

  13. England 6-3 Irelandpublished at 42 mins

Johnny Sexton gets the second half under way. What's happening? Keith Earls superbly deals with a sloppy ball from Stuart McCloskey, dancing between defenders, getting his team out of trouble.

The men in green recycling the ball... a cute grubber from McCloskey... England penalised and the Irish kick for touch instead of the posts. Interesting.

    Matt Dawson

"It is blessing to have a guy like Vunipola at number eight who can just charge through and take a few opposition players with him. It is giving England good options."

The Billy Vunipola fan club has a new member...a former England World Cup winner.

Ireland will be up against it in this second half unless they improve. The visitors played too much in their own half and made only 79m - Billy Vunipola alone made 75m in the first 40 minutes for England.

  17. Vote resultspublished at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

Earlier, we asked you who you thought would win this Twickenham tussle. The results are in and an overwhelming 70% of you think England will take this one, while 3% believe it will be a draw.

Such a result is a reflection of England's first-half dominance.

This graphic is telling us what was clear for all to see in the first half. For possession and territory, there was only one team in it.

England should be further ahead, but that is perhaps a disservice to Ireland's magnificent defending.

Darron Cullen: England look strong but someone needs to have a word with Mike Brown. Stirring it up like that could mean the bin. Calm down.

G Dog: Can't remember the last time I've seen such an inept performance from an international team with the ball in Ireland.

Mark John Walker: Young's passing has been poor...cost two tries already.
