After 47 minutes Wasps are off the try-scoring mark!

They finally gain some possession and it's neat hands from Christian Wade and Kurtley Beale to get it wide to Josh Bassett.

Bassett finishes well and Jimmy Gopperth adds the conversion.

Try (Takulua, missed con Takulua)published at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Newcastle 27-24 Northampton

Wow, what a turnaround at the start of the second half here!

Missed tackles and errors aplenty from Northampton present Newcastle with a try almost from the restart and Sonatane Takulua is in business again for a second try of the game.

Bonus point for the Falcons, but Takulua can't add the extras with the conversion.

  3. try

Try (Vickers)published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Newcastle 22-24 Northampton

Game on at Kingston Park and a great start after the interval for Newcastle.

Juan Pablo Socino showed some twinkle toes before Newcastle rumbled it over the line with Rob Vickers the man under the ball for the score.

Sonatane Takulua back on target off the tee. It's a two-point game.

  4. try

Try (Jennings, con Addison)published at 16:02 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Sale 31-9 Wasps

    Here's the bonus-point!

It's take just three minutes to Sale to get themselves into an attacking position and to score. Rob Webber finds his man at the lineout and then the driving maul rumbles over with Mark Jennings finishing the job.

Once again Will Addison adds the conversion and this is some statement from Sale.

    Sale 24-9 Wasps

Well, well, well did anyone else not see this one coming?

Both side's opening points came frome the tee before Denny Solomona made his intent clear. Three stellar tries from the league convert, all converted by Will Addison, has put the hosts in the driving seat.

How will Wasps respond in the second?

  12. Half-timepublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Newcastle 15-24 Northampton

Well, no hat-trick hero at Kingston Park but we have had five tries to keep us entertained.

Northampton have three of them and two came in the first five minutes. Newcastle still in the hunt though as the sides head for the dressing rooms.

  13. try

Try (Solomona, con Addison)published at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Sale 24-9 Wasps

    It's hat-trick time!

Give this man and inch of space and he'll score. Once again it's quick handling that creates the opportunity and on the far right-hand wing Denny Solomona races in for his third.

From out wide Will Addison adds the extras and this has been a fantastic half from Sale.

  14. try

Try (Robinson, missed con Takulua)published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Newcastle 15-24 Northampton

Newcastle still very much in this one as we approach the last four minutes of the first half.

Lock Sean Robinson is the scorer of their second try after they drive themselves through the Northampton defence.

Sonatane Takulua hits the post with his latest conversion attempt after a swirling effort in the wind.

  15. try

Try (Solomona, con Addison)published at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Sale 15-9 Wasps

Double trouble!! Once again Denny Solomona creates and finishes a stellar try!

A pass is whipped wide into his hands and he decides to put boot to ball.  Wasps' last defender Christian Wade slips slightly and Solomona collects and finishes the score. Will Addison again adds the extras and Sale have their tails up.

On the whole it's been a positive opening half-an-hour for Sale and with his try Denny Solomona has put himself into the Premiership record books too.

And we're back in scoring business as soon as I say that.

Harry Mallinder is the man to cross for Northampton's third try but it was all about some clever running by Ahsee Tuala and Ken Pisi to set him up.

Stephen Myler again is the man on target with the conversion.

  19. Postpublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Newcastle 10-17 Northampton

After the frantic points-fest of the opening 20 minutes, it's just quietened down a bit at Kingston Park.

A couple of handling errors and turnovers, but nothing fluid from either side for the last 10 minutes.

  20. Penalty (Gopperth)published at 15:27 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2017

    Sale 10-9 Wasps

No sooner have Sale put themselves in a promising position they give away another penalty at the breakdown and Jimmy Gopperth cuts the deficit.
