    Chris Jones
BBC 5 live rugby union reporter at Eden Park, Auckland

It's eerie, surreal, no-one knows what to think.

We discussed the All Blacks backlash and putting the Lions in their place, we discussed the Lions taking their place in rugby folklore but no-one discussed this.

But you have to say a draw is a fair result.

  6. "I just tried to work hard"published at 11:02 British Summer Time 8 July 2017

New Zealand 15-15 British and Irish Lions

Lions centre Jonathan Davies speaking to Sky Sports:

"I don't really know what to think to be honest, it might have been a fair result overall. I think we were a bit slow to react to the tempo they came at us with initially, but we started to control the game. We would have loved to have won the series.

"I'm sure about in 10 minutes when we get back in the changing room and reflect on what we achieved I think it will sink in.

"I just tried to work hard and play with a smile on my face."

Nice scenes that will prompt a thousand 'spirit of rugby' column inches as the two captains lift the trophy together and then call their teams up for a group shot with red shirts intermingled with black.

The players are cheerily chatting after knocking seven bells out of each other for the preceding three weeks.

Owen Farrell joking along with Ngani Laumape before the Lions set off on a lap of appreciation for their fans.

John McGibbon: Brilliant Game !....no one deserved to go home gutted - hats off to both teams.

Andrew Priestley: Where does the trophy go?? One week about for the next 12 years? That trophy will see some air miles!

Alan Ferguson: Drawn series feels like modern kids sports day. Just give everyone a lollipop and a little medal. Everyone's a winner.

Andrew Price: New Zealand tabloids: "Romaine lettuce down"? I'll see myself out.

    Wow...

FT: New Zealand 15-15 British and Irish Lions

"I thought it would have been harsh for either side to lose," says Sam Warburton.

The reaction shots of TJ Perenara and Julian Savea suggests they might not hold the same opinon.

He finishes by thanking the travelling fans.

"As players, we don't underestimate the time, effort and money you spend coming to support us halfway across the world," he says.

Right, we are having a post-match platform presentation chat.

Kieran Read is called up to the stage to receive his 100th All Black cap - a jazzy silver number - from former hooker Keven Mealamu.

Some nice words from the skipper, voice trembling as he thanks his team-mates for their efforts and good times.

Sam Warburton is called up for a few more platitudes. The Lions fans cheers their man to the stage.

New Zealand captain Kieran Read on Sky Sports: "I feel pretty hollow. To walk away with a draw doesn't mean much. In the future I will look back at this with pride.

"My view is that it was a penalty [for offside at the end], he ruled it correctly from the start. But that isn't why we lost the game, it was an accumulation of all things throughout.

"We had a lot of endeavor and hard work from the boys, we wanted to put in a great performance but it just didn't click. I'm really proud of the lads."

Lions second row Maro Itoje on Sky Sports:

"I'm a little bit dissatisifed. We came to win and we didn't quite do that. We didn't play exactly how we wanted to do it. But New Zealand are a top team and we went toe-to-toe with them.

"I think our line-out could have worked smoother and we could have been a bit more physical. We had an opportunity at the end to win it but we didn't stick up our hands.

"It's been the best seven weeks of my life to wear this jersey."

Simon Richardson: Undoubtedly the tensest test match anywhere since the World Cup final in 2003. What a shame there's no extra time here.

FT: New Zealand 15-15 British and Irish Lions

    Sam WarburtonImage source, Getty Images

Lions captain Sam Warburton speaking on Sky Sports:

"It's a difficult one. As players you go through all the emotion and pressure of the week and it's all geared towards winning. It's better than losing I guess.

"I don't know what I made of that I was ready to go into extra-time.

"We've come to the double world champs and not got beaten, we can take some credit for that.

"We had 6-8 weeks to become the best team in the world so we can take some positives from the draw but as players we're gutted not to see that win.

"I was chatting to Kieran Read then and with three minutes to go he said 'wow this is rugby'."

"It's better than losing," he says with a wry smile.
