There was no lack of effort from Wasps, just a lack of guile.

We wanted to put in a big performance and for 65 minutes I thought we did. It was disappointing to let it slip at the end, but Jamie's put in a man-of-the-match performance.

Wasps are a good team and have a brilliant squad. It was a big day for Brad Barritt, playing his 200th game, and we wanted to put a big show on for him

Saracens rarely disappoint. They started both halves was just too much for Wasps and took their chances.

The gulf between the sides was significant.

    Saracens 38-19 Wasps

It was only four tries to three in Saracens' favour, but there was a bit of a gulf between the sides.

Jamie George's hat-trick will take the headlines.

  8. try

Try (Bassett, con Miller)published at 80+2 mins

    Saracens 38-19 Wasps

If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.

Saracens knock the ball on but it falls into the path of Josh Bassett who puts the ball down over the line - and this one actually counts.

A good way to end for Wasps, though the conversion is missed by Rob Miller.

  9. No try (Bassett)published at 79 mins

    Saracens 38-14 Wasps

Well that was a bit peculiar.

Dan Robson shows quick feet and Wasps get themselves a line-out deep in enemy territory.

The ball breaks to Josh Bassett, who puts the ball down over the line, but a forward pass is eventually signalled by the TMO - that was a very late call.

    Saracens 38-14 Wasps

Josh Bassett goes over for Wasps, but is there a forward pass?

Wasps lose their lineout and probably their chance of getting any points from this match.

Dai Young looks a frustrated figure in the stand - his side have been blown away by Sarries in spells.

The visitors have a scrum in their own half after a knock-on by the hosts.

If Wasps can take a point home from here it will be vital for them.

  13. try

Try (J Willis, con Miller)published at 69 mins

    Saracens 38-14 Wasps

It won't change the result but what a way to mark your first Premiership start, Jack Willis.

He takes the ball ever so well from a quick pass inside and provides the finishing touch.

Jack's brother Tom is also on the pitch for his top-flight debut, so it's a real family affair.

Rob Miller kicks the extras for Wasps.

  14. try

Try (George, con Lozowski)published at 66 mins

    Saracens 38-7 Wasps

    Hat-trick and bonus-point klaxon!

This has turned into a rout in the second half, and Jamie George is once again the man to dot down after a Sarries catch and drive.

It's a third of the afternoon for the England hooker, who is now taken off, while Alex Lozowski makes the conversion.

Vincent Koch immediately makes his presence known after coming on, winning Saracens a penalty at the scrum.

Wasps then force a knock-on, with both teams starting to tire and make errors.

Liam Williams, who went off for a head injury assessment earlier in the half, has know been taken off - James Gaskell is one of those to come on for Wasps after an injury lay-off.

    Saracens 31-7 Wasps

Wasps have understandably started to empty their bench, with Dan Robson among those coming on.

They launch a rare attack but Saracens just do not allow them to breath on the ball, relentlessly shutting them down.

Willie Le Roux is unlucky with his kick into space as he falls while trying to chase his kick, but this is a good spell from the visitors.

    Saracens 31-7 Wasps

The aim for Sarries is clear - one more try and they'll get the bonus-point to go a point clear at the top of the Premiership.

This match might be gone for Wasps but it nevertheless has the feel of an important last 25 minutes for them.

They play again on Friday night, so injuries need to be avoided - but if they lose by a wider margin it will look ugly.

It looks a long 29 minutes for Wasps unless they change the momentum of the game.

  19. try

Try (George, con Lozowski)published at 50 mins

    Saracens 31-7 Wasps

You feel like Wasps needed to get the first points of the second half to really have a go at their opponents.

But they've now conceded 13 points without reply since half-time.

Jamie George gets his second try of the afternoon - the England man did the same in last season's fixture - this time he goes over at the back of a driving maul.

Alex Lozowski converts and Wasps look well out of this.

  20. Penalty (Lozowski)published at 48 mins

    Saracens 24-7 Wasps

Wasps show promise in attack but are left isolated and Argentina prop Juan Figallo snatches a penalty for Saracens to thwart their opponents.

In typical fashion the European champions go up the other end and get some points - Thomas Young cynically stops Liam Williams and that man Alex Lozowski kicks a simple penalty.
