Elliot Daly is a long-range penalty exponent and he laces up his 3 wood of a left boot to slot one over from halfway to end that half on a perfect note for Wasps.

The hosts back to seven points ahead on the stroke of half-time.

  2. Red card: Will Spencerpublished at 40 mins

My word! Will Spencer sees red and Leicester are down to 14 men!

Ian Tempest gives his explanation to the second row and his captain Tom Youngs that there's a directive out to keep tackles low and then pulls the red card out of his back pocket.

    Drama indeed...

    Wasps 22-18 Leicester

Last bit of action in this first half has the television match official involved again as Ian Tempest takes a look at a late challenge on Tommy Taylor by Leicester's lock Will Spencer.

Taylor struck around the shoulder there by Spencer just after he released a pass on halfway.

  4. Just what Tigers neededpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Wasps 22-18 Leicester

    Steve Johnson
Ex-Leicester flanker on BBC Radio Leicester

That was well-worked. Crisp passing, plenty of support on both sides and just what Tigers needed coming up to half-time.

  5. try

Try: Wasps 22-18 Leicesterpublished at 37 mins

    Telusa Veainu, con George Ford

    tryImage source, .

Try time again in this half and Leicester respond yet again.

Telusa Veainu goes under the posts but it's some great work by the Youngs brothers, Tom and Ben and then George Ford to set it up for the full-back.

Ford then adds the extras from dead in front of the posts and what a game we've had here with five tries already.

  6. Cole making a habit of silly penaltiespublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Wasps 22-11 Leicester

    Steve Johnson
Ex-Leicester flanker on BBC Radio Leicester

I think it was a late rather than dangerous tackle. But giving away silly penalties like that is becoming a bit of habit for Dan Cole. It just shows his frustration.

  7. Penalty: Wasps 22-11 Leicesterpublished at 33 mins

    Lima Sopoaga

    penImage source, .

And Lima Sopoaga extends his side's lead to 11 points as Wasps benefit from Cole's indiscretion there.

Half-time approaching and the hosts will feel a bit more comfortable with this lead.

  8. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Wasps 19-11 Leicester

Wasps get a penalty as Dan Cole barges into Dan Robson late there after the pass had gone.

No further punishment from the referee for the Leicester prop. Not sure the home fans agreed with that though....

    Wasps 19-11 Leicester

Cheeky Dan Robson tries his luck again for Wasps with a quick tap penalty and the home crowd think Lima Sopoaga is in for a fourth try for a moment...

Referee Ian Tempest blew his whistle pretty quickly to suggest Robson took that from the wrong place.

But there were some afters between the players too there which are being looked at very closely on the television replays.

  10. Penalty: Wasps 19-11 Leicesterpublished at 30 mins

    George Ford

    penImage source, .

And from some 42 metres out, dead centre in front of the posts, George Ford kicks another penalty in fairly short succession.

Nicely done to reduce the deficit to eight points.

  11. Postpublished at 29 mins

    Wasps 19-8 Leicester

Pretty entertaining stuff this from two sides clearly full of attacking talent, but also prone to an error or two.

Penalty comes Leicester's way again as the hosts fail to release the ball in time in their own half.

  12. Penalty: Wasps 19-8 Leicesterpublished at 26 mins

    George Ford

    penImage source, .

Some of that deficit Steve mentions is chipped away as George Ford slots over a right-footed penalty from 30 metres back.

First bit of indiscipline by Wasps at the breakdown gets punished.

  13. A leaky defencepublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Wasps 19-5 Leicester

    Steve Johnson
Ex-Leicester flanker on BBC Radio Leicester

Leicester didn’t deserve to be 14 points behind and their try was really well worked. George Ford knew Johnny May had the pace on the defenders and he got there easily.

But they are 14 points behind again. Their defence is leaking badly.

  14. try

Try: Wasps 19-5 Leicesterpublished at 22 mins

Nathan Hughes, missed con Lima Sopoaga

    WaspsImage source, .

Try time again for Wasps! Nathan Hughes the man crossing the whitewash this time.

Dan Robson's quick thinking from a tap penalty after that scrum started it all off and caught Leicester napping.

Two or three players did their best to barge over as the ball got recycled, but it was number eight Hughes' substantial weight that had enough to finally break the Tigers resistance.

First blemish though of the game from Lima Sopoaga as he misses the conversion.

  15. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Wasps 14-5 Leicester

Sloppy restart from Leicester as Gareth Owen spills the kick-off from Lima Sopoaga and immediately puts his pack back under pressure with a scrum inside their own 22.

  16. try

Jonny May, missed con George Ford

    Leicester tryImage source, .

Great response by Leicester this time and George Ford starts pulling the strings at fly-half to set it up.

Lovely hands first of all to open up some space in their back line and then a nicely judged grubber kick through that Jonny May sprints on to and touches down just in time before it runs over the dead ball line.

Ford can't quite add the conversion from wide right as it drifts to the left of the posts.

  17. try

Try: Wasps 14-0 Leicesterpublished at 15 mins

    Josh Bassett, con Lima Sopoaga

    WaspsImage source, .

Second try on the board for Wasps and Josh Bassett the man to touch down in the left corner.

Beautiful bit of weighted cross-field kicking by Elliot Daly sets it up for the winger to run on to with a bit of hang time in the air.

Long old television match review to make sure Bassett was onside first of all and then cleanly stayed in touch to put it down.

Try given and Lima Sopoaga then notches the conversion from wide out on the left touchline.

  18. A lucky breakpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 16 September 2018

    Wasps 7-0 Leicester

    Steve Johnson
Ex-Leicester flanker on BBC Radio Leicester

It’s a very fortuitous try that. The ball got kicked in the face of Telusa Veainu and Wasps made the most of it. It’s not been against the run of play because both teams have created opportunities.

But up until then the passing hasn’t been top drawer. Quite a few passes are going behind players and that is really butchering some opportunities. It’s been a bit stop-start so far.

    Wasps 7-0 Leicester

More sloppy passes from Leicester in response to going behind to that try.

Can't quite get their back line going as an attempted ball out to Johnny May goes too far and flies out of touch.

  20. try

Juan de Jongh, con Lima Sopoaga

First score on the board goes to Wasps and it's some beautiful running lines from Josh Bassett and Dan Robson up the middle of Leicester's defence from halfway.

Just as Robson is hauled down short of the whitewash, the scrum-half pops a pass up to Juan de Jongh to finish up under the posts.

Lima Sopoaga adds the simple conversion.
