    Bath 3-7 Leicester

More Bath pressure in the 22, but somehow Leicester survive

It is incredible work from Manu Tuilagi which saves a try a yard out from his own line.

Somehow he dives over a teammate to grab the ball back from Will Chudley, who was set to touch the ball down.

The Tigers defensive effort has been supreme so far.

  2. Postpublished at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bristol 7-10 Newcastle

Bristol with the response this time after conceding a try and twice they nearly find space out wide to get through.

Wingers Luke Morahan and Tom Pincus are both unable to latch on to an expansive pass and stay in touch as Newcastle scramble back in defence.

We are 24 minutes into this one.

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

Referee JP Doyle and TMO Stuart Terheege decide Louw jumped over the tackle, so the try is not awarded.

Was it more of a hurdle than a jump? It also looked like a no-arm tackle from Genge. Either way, no score.

Bath had an advantage, so they'll go back for a penalty.

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

Bath think they have scored through Francois Louw, but did he jump over the tackle of Ellis Genge?

Try - Bristol 7-10 Newcastlepublished at 15:25 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Vereniki Goneva, con Toby Flood

Pressure, pressure, pressure from Newcastle and eventually they get their reward with a try on 21 minutes to take the lead for the first time.

After what seemed like nearly 50 phases from the Falcons, it's Vereniki Goneva who rumbles it over the line from close range with support from his forwards to get them the score.

Flood on target off the tee again for the conversion.

  7. Postpublished at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

With Bath on the attack about five metres out, we got to the TMO.

Referee JP Doyle thinks Matt Toomua has tripped Bath's Will Chudley with his feet on the ground on the break-down.

Footage shows it wasn't deliberate, and the hosts restart the game with a scrum just under the posts.

  8. Missed penalty - Bath 0-7 Leicesterpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    James Wilson

Bath full-back James Wilson goes for the sticks from halfway, to the right of the sticks.

It's a massive attempt, just short of 50 metres on the angle.

He doesn't have the distance, and the Tigers clear to touch.

  9. Postpublished at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bristol 7-3 Newcastle

The ball's been in play a fair bit in this opening 15 minutes, but Newcastle can't find a way through some stubborn Bristol defence.

Eventually the hosts force a handling error from the Falcons on the edge of their 22 that'll allow them a couple of minutes to take a breather.

  10. Postpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

After soaking up some pressure, Leicester come forward and aim to probe for weakness in the Bath defence.

But the line speed and defence from the hosts is good, and in the end they force a knock-on from Ellis Genge about five metres out from their own 22.

  11. Postpublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bristol 7-3 Newcastle

Referee Wayne Barnes has had a few words to say to the Bristol pack in these early stages for their ill-discipline.

Newcastle with the better of it since that early Harry Randall try and they go again with an attacking line-out from the hosts' 22-metre line.

But, Bears force the turnover on the floor as Dan Thomas gets the better of Simon Hammersley at the breakdown.

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

Leicester lock Graham Kitchener is penalised for bringing down a jumper from the line-out on the five metre line.

Bath are upping the pressure on the visitors.

But then the Tigers respond, as some solid work from another line-out sees them spin round the Bath forward pack and forces a knock-on.

Couple of penalties conceded by the Bears before the Falcons decide to take the three points on offer from in front of the posts.

Another three points on the tally of Toby Flood's career haul.

    Just past the 10-minute mark.

  14. Postpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bristol 7-0 Newcastle

Good response from Newcastle after falling behind to that early try.

Adam Radwan nearly snuck in down the left wing for a reply and then Simon Hammersley couldn't quite get the offload away to put his scrum-half Micky Young in.

    Entertaining start.

  16. Try reviewpublished at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

Bath come back at Leicester well and go through the phases with their forwards.

A spirited response gets them a penalty advantage for Jonny May being offside before they plug away at the Leicester line.

The hosts think they have crossed the line with a forward push, but we go to the TMO.

  17. try

Try - Bath 0-7 Leicesterpublished at 15:03 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2018

    Jonny May, con George Ford

Leicester take the lead following a brilliant piece of invention from George Ford.

Playing with an advantage, the fly-half kicks into space behind the Bath back line and Jonny May is on hand to race on, gather and touch down for his seventh Premiership try of the season.

Ford adds the extras from the kicking tee with three minutes on the clock.

A crowd of around 18,300 inside Ashton Gate today and they've already been treated to a try for the hosts inside 75 seconds!

Brilliant break from halfway from the hosts by winger Luke Morahan and then scrum-half Harry Randall was there on the inside channel to finish off from the offload.

Ian Madigan adds the early conversion for a perfect Bears start.
