When Edinburgh have the ball in hand and move it on from the first point of contact, they look dangerous. I think they've got to be a bit more adventurous.

Every time Frans Steyn gets the ball, he is quite selfish with it. He is trying to bump his opposite man off every time. But he has got far more to his game than that. It just shows you what the default is in French rugby, and what they are programmed to do. They take the contact first before looking for space

Duhan Van der Merwe has brought a spark to Edinburgh's attack

Duhan van der Merwe has looked dangerous every time he has seen the ball on Edinburgh's left wing.

Given the size and strength of Montpellier's pack, you'd think Edinburgh would have more joy trying to get the ball wide whenever they can in this second half.

Their fitness might also be a telling factor when this comes to the crunch, although they have been forced to make a lot of tackles so far.

The last 15 to 20 minutes Montpellier came back into it. Edinburgh's defence before that was excellent, giving away very few penalties. Montpellier now go into the changing rooms with a spring in their step.

That's the joke. Du Plessis shouldn't even be on the pitch and then he turns up and scores the try. People have a go at me for criticizing the referees but he has made a decision that has had a huge influence on this match.

  13. Half-time - Edinburgh 9-7 Montpellierpublished at 20:36 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2019

Pienaar's kick was the last of the first half.

A disappointing time to concede a try from a home perspective, which will give Montpellier a spring in their step as they head to the sheds.

Advantage still with Edinburgh, but that lead is looking a bit more precarious now.

That's a swinging arm. That has to be a yellow card. World Rugby are trying to protect players - that has to be a yellow card minimum.
