Long way back for Ireland now. Would say they at least deserve to get on the board...

A really quick line-out there, that was good to see, a big long pass to Natasha Hunt. The breakdown's a little bit slow but they managed to retain the ball, then Katy Daley-McLean puts McKenna away.

The kick just went in an L shape! It went straight then went in a right angle.

Try - England 27-0 Irelandpublished at 60 mins

    Sarah McKenna (60 mins)

    England's pressure tells...

It all came from a quick line-out throw from Abby Dow, allowing Natasha Hunt to carry forward before hitting contact.

England keep it alive for Sarah McKenna and the full-back scuttles inside to hit the gap and power over.

Emily Scarratt's attempted conversion catches the wind and almost boomerangs back towards her.

Phenomenal finish there by Abby Dow. Emily Scarratt's going to be disappointed with that, it was almost a no-look pass but it just edged forward.

Just when we thought we had a score!

It was a sweeping move from England and Emily Scarratt just straightened up, gathering ground before putting Abby Dow in at the corner.

But it was forward from the World Player of the Year...

The intent is there from England, they're looking to play some really good rugby, but there are a couple of percentages that are slightly off - a ball slightly behind, or not enough people in the ruck. These are things that need putting right before the next World Cup. They'll get away with it against Ireland but not against the New Zealands or Australias.

Nice from England, popping it through hands like Harlem Globetrotters playing with a hot potato as they approach the Ireland line... but superb defence from the visitors to stifle the attack just as it looked to be gathering momentum.

Vicky Fleetwood comes bursting into the line but the offload is just behind her - she looked through if that pass had just been a touch crisper.

Sarah Bern turns it over for England, who then get a penalty for Cliodhna Moloney not rolling away and the Ireland player then speaks out of turn, seeing her side marched back 10.

Ireland are playing with higher tempo, which is what they need to because it unsettles the England defence, they can't get as much line speed.

You can see the tactics with the tackling from England, either putting the big double-smash in or trying to hold them up.

  13. Promising signs for Ireland?published at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 February 2020

    England 22-0 Ireland

England defeated Ireland 51-7 in the same fixture last year, so 22-0 is not as bad as it could be for Adam Griggs’ side.

Ireland’s main focus this year will be a World Cup qualification tournament in September and after winning just one game and finishing fifth in last year's Six Nations, the side have got off to a more promising start with wins against Scotland and Wales in the first two rounds.

But they have never won on English soil and Simon Middleton’s team look determined to ensure that run continues.

Ireland are enjoying plenty of the ball, just like they did at the beginning of the first half, but it's always with England keeping them at arm's length - no real line breaks or penetrating runs.

At half-time England head coach Simon Middleton would have told his side to be clinical and execute those final passes because it's very tough in this wind.

England have the chance in the next 10 minutes to really pressurise Ireland.

    HT: England 22-0 Ireland

    Rocky Clark
Former England World Cup winner on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

The England team have been playing really well, getting front-foot ball when it's appropropriate, and Sarah McKenna is doing really well.

Ireland, on the flip side, are hanging in there by their fingernails, they're going to have to come out and pull something out of the bag to get on the scoresheet. They need to put the ball in front of the player, at the moment it's quite slow.

It's really taking it out of Ireland. When you're getting smacked by Poppy Cleall and Vickii Cornborough, being driven back, it's really hard to keep getting up and getting whacked like that. They have to find the edges of the tackler, rather than running straight at the bodies.

Ireland have actually made more carries and only slightly fewer metres than England. The visitors did enjoy spells of pressure at times, but the hosts have been clinical.
