  2. Glasgow looking to settle scorespublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

Tonight will be the fourth time these two foes have met this season, with Edinburgh having won two, and Glasgow one.

The Warriors will look to even things up at Murrayfield, but will start as firm outsiders.

    Previous meetings this season:

    • Glasgow 20-16 Edinburgh (December, 2019)
    • Edinburgh 29-19 Glasgow (December, 2019)
    • Edinburgh 30-15 Glasgow (August, 2020)
  3. Edinburgh 'earned right' to rest playerspublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill has been speaking about his team selection on BBC Radio Scotland.

"We've earned the right and privilege to rest some guys," he said on Sportsound.

"We don't need a result tonight because we've retained the 1872 Cup and we've got to look at the bigger picture.

"Glasgow are a very good side and threaten you on all sorts of fronts. So going into a semi-final against Ulster I think it's really good preparation."

  4. A changing of the guard at Glasgow?published at 19:26 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

Last week's defeat leaves Glasgow out of the play-offs for only the second time in nine seasons.

It's been a challenging year for the club after going close to winning their second Pro14 title in 2019.

Head coach Dave Rennie has joined a few senior players out the exit door, and signings have been limited for his replacement Danny Wilson given the Covid-19 pandemic.

It looks like they have a serious rebuilding job to do. You can read the thought of recently retired Warrior Ruaridh Jackson here.

  5. Gray ruled out as family member awaits test resultpublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

Glasgow head coach Danny Wilson has shed some light on the reasons for Richie Gray's late omission from the squad.

"Bascially a close member of Richie's family is awaiting a [coronavirus] test result and until Richie's family get that result, that rules him out of the bubble so to speak.

"Richie's fine, no problems or symptoms and he passed his test earlier this week but that is the protocol therefore, safety first we have to exclude him from our bubble until that test result comes back."

  6. Cockerill's here to staypublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

It's been an incredibly good week for Edinburgh fans. A rousing 30-15 win against Glasgow was followed by Leinster beating Munster and a home semi-final.

Then, if that wasn't enough, news emerged from the lips of Scottish Rugby's chief executive Mark Dodson that Richard Cockerill had signed a two-year contract extension to 2023!

Can it get any better, Edinburgh fans?

  7. Fans return for first timepublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

There will be a reduced crowd of 700 Edinburgh fans (no laughing Warriors fans) in Murrayfield tonight, after the Scottish government gave permission for the game to be used as a 'pilot' event for the return of spectators.

It's the first time fans will have attended any major sporting event in Scotland since March, which means the eyes of more than just the rugby world will be watching very carefully...

  8. Cockerill makes 10 changespublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

Winger Darcy Graham and flanker Magnus Bradbury return from injury as Edinburgh make 10 changes from last week's 30-15 win against the Warriors. There's a first start for fly-half Nathan Chamberlain.

Glasgow initially made three alterations, with Huw Jones continuing at full-back. George Horne replaces Ali Price at scrum-half, with Tom Gordon replacing Rob Harley at openside, allowing Matt Fagerson to shift to number eight and Ryan Wilson to take the number six jersey.

However, a late injury to Richie Gray means he drops out of the squad, Harley plays in the second row and Kiran McDonald comes onto the bench.

Stafford McDowall takes over from Peter Horne at inside centre.

  10. Fiery night aheadpublished at 19:03 British Summer Time 28 August 2020

    Edinburgh v Glasgow (19:35)

Tonight's enocunter is a bit of a dead rubber on paper, but if recent derbies are anything to go by then we could be in for a feisty match.

Edinburgh clinched a Pro14 home semi-final with Ulster by beating Warriors 30-15 last week, which also ended their rivals' already slim play-off hopes.

It's also the first time fans (around 700 of them) are allowed in to a major sporting event in Scotland.
