It's been a weird half. Four penalties but you've got to keep the scoreboard ticking over. You've got to keep yourself in the hunt with 20 minutes to go because that's when France start to panic, impload

You would have bet your life that France were going to power their way over there. Somehow they didn't!

  4. Half-time - Scotland 12-12 Francepublished at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November 2020

Huge shift from the Scotland defence - held up over the line!

France thought they would have them with a drive off the lineout but outstanding work from Jonny Gray, Oli Kebble and co prevent Camille Chat and Gregory Alldritt from blasting their way over.

A huge psychological boost for Scotland as they head for the sheds.

Scratch that, they've gone for the corner!

Penalty France at the scrum. A huge shift from their pack. Demoralising for Scotland.

Thomas Ramos will have the chance to put his team back in front before the break...

Nothing given. The decision from Wayne Barnes is that Camille Chat was bracing for impact and then just attempts to ease Jonny Gray away from him. No foul play and on we go!

    France scrum just Scotland's half.

There's a video check here as Camille Chat appears to lead with his forearm when fending off Jonny Gray. The France hooker could be in trouble here...

  9. Penalty - Scotland 12-12 Francepublished at 38 mins

    Duncan Weir

Weir knocks over his fourth penalty to level things up again. This one from the 10m line. A lovely strike.

France were pinged for offside this time. Plenty of points, just no tries...

    Scotland 9-12 France

Very poor from Scotland. Stuart Hogg hoists a brilliant kick into the air, collects superbly before being brought down.

He has no white shirts in support though and France pinch the ball at the ruck. Blair Kinghorn then knocks on from France's clearing kick. Sloppy stuff.

    Scotland 9-12 France

A knock-on from the kick-off gives Scotland a chance to respond themselves. But Antoine Dupont does magnificently to strip the ball from Duncan Weir, and the French break the cycle of penalties!

  12. Penalty - Scotland 9-12 Francepublished at 29 mins

    Thomas Ramos

Matt Fagerson is penalised for not releasing. Thomas Ramos restores France's lead almost immediately with a simple penalty.

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend shows some rare frustration from the coaches' box as he shakes his head in disgust.

    Very strange game!

  13. Penalty - Scotland 9-9 Francepublished at 27 mins

    Duncan Weir

It's groundhog day as Scotland plug away in the French half, and get a penalty as a blue shirt doesn't roll away. The new breakdown rules are being strictly enforced here.

Weir converts from an almost identical position to the last one, and Scotland are level!

The higher the number of phases you go, the stronger the French defence seems to get. The time to strike is in those first one or two phases

  15. Drop-goal - Scotland 6-9 Francepublished at 24 mins

    Matthieu Jalibert

The 22-year-old fly-half makes up for some sloppy kicking with, well, a well taken kick.

His drop-goal goes over and France edge back in front. Both teams taking points when they're on offer!

    Scotland 6-6 France

If the tackler does not pack his bags and get the heck out of the breakdown swiftly, then Wayne Barnes is blowing the whistle.

It's a consistent approach at least, and both teams will have to adapt.

Scotland pinged, and Mathieu Jalibert goes for touch, but France lose the line-out, however after Scotland clear France come again...

  17. Penalty - Scotland 6-6 Francepublished at 21 mins

    Duncan Weir

No mistake as the ball bisects the Murrayfield posts. All square. A really good response from Scotland after playing the opening 10 minutes on the back foot.

And again, this time Gregor Alldritt doesn't get out of the ruck quickly enough for Wayne Barnes' liking.

Duncan Weir will line up an attempt from medium-range which is fairly central.

France are now the team incurring the wrath of referee Wayne Barnes. Dylan Cretin didn't roll away after his tackle, and Scotland can clear their lines and look forward to some territory.
