England's patience and power. Picking and going with their noses six inches off the ground. It is so tough to defend.

There are very few teams that are going to be able to defend against the England juggernauts. Wales ran out of steam.

Converted try - Wales 7-18 Englandpublished at 51 mins

    Mako Vunipola

Billy Vunipola picks up from a base of a scrum and is inches away from powering over the Welsh try line.

Wales' defence scrambles as England look to continue picking and driving from close range.

The carrying is fierce, and so is the tackling.

England have a penalty advantage before Mako Vunipola eventually burrows his way over for their second try.

Owen Farrell converts and England might fancy their chances of pulling clear now.

Someone needs to tell me what Wales' attacking plan is because I can't see it right now.

  4. Replacementpublished at 49 mins

    Wales 7-11 England

    Another two changes for Wales.

Scrum-half Rhys Webb replaces Lloyd Williams and lock Will Rowlands comes on for Jake Ball.

Here come England, Maro Itoje carrying powerfully into the Welsh 22.

Jonny May tries to latch on to a chip over the Welsh defence but it dribbles out of touch.

England seize on Welsh hesitance after a line-out and they tackle Taulupe Faletau behind his own try line for an English scrum five.

  6. Replacementpublished at 48 mins

    Wales 7-11 England

Wales have struggled to keep possession throughout Wayne Pivac's tenure, and the ball is almost always slow.

England force another turnover but Ben Youngs overhits his kick and Wales will clear from a 22 drop-out.

Meanwhile, hooker Ryan Elias is replaced by Elliot Dee.

  7. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Wales 7-11 England

Wales' line-out hasn't been functioning that well today, so they go short on this occasion.

Wing Louis-Rees Zammit gets a rare touch of the ball in midfield and Wales try to go through the phases.

This is disciplined English defending - strong first-up tackling and rigid structure.

    James Hook
Former Wales fly-half on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

England started slow. Wales will be pleased with the scoreline, they just need to get in England's 22 a bit more and keep hold of the ball for longer.

  9. Postpublished at 45 mins

And it's a free-kick for Wales from that scrum.

What a difference a replacement makes?

Or is the scrum just a lottery?

  10. Postpublished at 44 mins

That is remarkable maul defence from Wales.

Not only do they stop the English maul, they wrestle the ball from them - chapeau, Ryan Elias - and then send the English forwards marching backwards.

This was always going to happen, the way the scrum was going for Wales.

Off goes tight-head prop Samson Lee, on comes Tomas Francis.

  12. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Wales 7-11 England

Referee Romain Poite awards England another scrum penalty.

Owen Farrell kicks to touch - and it's a good one, deep into the Welsh 22.

I would love to know how deep Eddie Jones went into his kit bag at half-time.

Did he pull out a hairdryer, a boot or a cuddly toy to wrap England in cotton wool?

  14. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Wales 7-11 England

Ben Youngs starts the second for England as they played the first: kicking.

Wales have a line-out just inside the England half - and the throw is not straight by Ryan Elias.

    England will have a scrum.

Curry and Underhill have caused a nightmare and everything has been on the backfoot for Wales.

But it is only 11-7 to England including a late penalty so we are still in the game.

    Gareth Griffiths

Wales have shown a lot of resilience in defence and have scored with their only real chance through Johnny Williams.

England have been slowly building but they are not used to having so much territory and possession. A try from Henry Slade and two penalties from Owen Farrell gives them a four-point advantage.

The England players remained on the field in a huddle after the half-time whistle before going inside to see Eddie Jones.

  20. 'Encouraging from Wales'published at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 28 November 2020

It is a very encouraging first half from Wales but they have to do it all again in the second half.
