That's all for now. Thanks for your company this evening on what was a solid workout for Scotland.

It gets a lot more serious next weekend when Gregor Townsend takes his team to Wales. Join us again then for what should be a storming contest.

No crowd will be a bigger issue for Wales. Something magical happens when those players pull on the red shirts in Cardiff but they won't have the atmosphere to push them on

The challenge against Wales next week will be keeping the tempo high because the home team won't have the crowd to get them going. To do that, Finn Russell needs to start

  4. Can Scotland end long wait for a win in Wales?published at 22:01 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

So it's on to Wales next weekend as Scotland complete their delayed Six Nations campaign in Llanelli.

The Scots haven't won in Wales since 2002.

Here's a reminder of what the table looks like.

Duhan van der Merwe is a huge weapon for the Scotland squad. If he plays next week, Wales will have a lot on their hands there.

  6. Selection headaches?published at 21:54 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

    FT: Scotland 48-7 Georgia

Asked if he has any selection headaches ahead of the meeting with Wales next week, Gregor Townsend said: "Matt Fagerson, with his injury - that would be a blow if he would miss the chance to be in the squad next week. We'll just wait and see what happens with scans on his ankle.

"We have a few players playing over the weekend. We have three playing for Exeter tomorrow, couple more for Edinburgh and Glasgow so we'll see on Sunday night where we are physically and with a good review of the game and how our players have played, what squad and team we'll go to Wales next week with."

  7. Townsend pleased with forward effortpublished at 21:52 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

    FT: Scotland 48-7 Georgia

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend: "It was certainly a good work out for the forwards. We knew the Georgians pride themselves on the scrum and the maul and given the conditions underfoot we thought there would be a lot of scrums tonight.

"I thought we stood up well there, we were dominant in the scrum and and certainly in the maul. There are certainly areas to improve on, but it's a first game for a while.

"All in all, we're pleased to get through that with some positives to work on."

The only concern for me would be 12 and 13. Lang and Harris didn't ignite anything, they didn't penetrate.

  9. Has Hastings done enough?published at 21:40 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

    FT: Scotland 48-7 Georgia

Four from eight for Adam Hastings on conversion duties tonight.

Will that come back to bite the fly-half when it comes to selection for the Six Nations finale in Wales?

Finn Russell looked pretty handy at no.12, so maybe there's room for them both in Llanelli.

I know the game was won, but Finn Russell made a big difference and it seemed to give the rest of the players a lift as well

Finn Russell's distribution was excellent, he makes it look so easy and then there is the variety of passes

What we are seeing is growth. We are seeing a team getting meaner in defence. I take a lot of encouragement from the work-rate in defence when they are 30 points up

Eight tries for Scotland. A nice return to the international stage, although the opposition was pretty poor.

  14. try

Try Scotland 48-7 Georgiapublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

    Blair Kinghorn

Blair Kinghorn with a gentle clip over the top. The covering defender makes a dreadful mess of it, with the ball bobbling between his legs. Kinghorn is then able to get his foot on the loose ball and shows great skill to flick it up and gather before diving under the posts.

Saving the best try for last. Well, the most entertaining.

Easy-peasy for Adam Hastings from close range.

  15. try

Try Scotland 41-7 Georgiapublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

    Darcy Graham

Another line-out, another solid take, another try.

It's not a drive this time though, with quick hands from George Horne feeding Darcy Graham for an easy score.

Another errant effort from Hastings from the conversion attempt.

    Scotland 36-7 Georgia

A bad night for the visitors gets worse as they go down to 14 men.

Ben Toolis storms forward and his pass is slapped away by replacement Gela Aprasidze in one of the most obvious knock-ons you'll ever see.

  17. try

Try Scotland 36-7 Georgiapublished at 21:13 British Summer Time 23 October 2020

    Duhan van der Merwe

A debut try for Duhan van der Merwe.

The big winger has been pretty quiet since early in the first half but he's in the right place to gather Finn Russell's inside pass and no one is going to stop him as he blasts into wide open space and under the posts.

Adam Hastings pops over the conversion from close in.

Ali Price and Hamish Watson are off for a rest, with George Horne taking over at scrum-half and Nick Haining adding some heft to the back row.

Meanwhile, Scotland must defend a line-out just 10 metres from their line.
