Ireland are too keen as they go after a France line-out. Tadhg Beirne takes out Charles Ollivon in the air.

Twelve minutes left on the clock and Ireland are growing in belief.

But then the ball spills forward out the tackle.

France spread wide. Is there a man over? Gael Fickou decides not. He kicks a long, low grubber into the Ireland 22. James Lowe returns fire.

    Tight, tight, tight.

Johnny Sexton is clapping from the water boy spot. That was a clean thump off the instep and suddenly we have a two-point ball game and the heist is in sight.

Remember Sexton's match-winning dropper with the clock in the red in Paris in 2018?

    What money a repeat?

    Ireland 10-15 France

This is a bit more like it from Ireland as prop Tadhg Furlong shows his smart hands are still there after the lay-off.

France infringe as Paul Willemse drapes an arm over Ross Byrne's shoulder in the tackle.

    Penalty Ireland.

And Byrne is going to have a shot at the sticks...

Jamison Gibson-Park got nowhere near that high ball and Gabin Villiere's hack on very nearly plays for the chasing Antoine Dupont.

James Lowe has to rev into the red to get back ahead of the France scrum-half.

The uneven bounce of a rugby ball has given Ireland a glimmer of hope in what has otherwise been a pretty harrowing second half.

We shouldn't let the scoreline detract from what we're actually seeing though, Ireland have been abject. It's a five point game, yet we have seen nothing to suggest Ireland are capable of turning the tide here. You would imagine France think that too.

    And yet. And yet...

    Paul Grayson
Former England fly-half on BBC 5 Radio Live Sports Extra

That was the first time Ireland's line-out was upset by the French but Ronan Kelleher was the first man to react and there was empty space in front of him.

    That's exactly what Ireland needed.

Converted try - Ireland 10-15 Francepublished at 57 mins

    Ronan Kelleher

A smart bit of opportunism from replacement scrum-half Ronan Kelleher, who swipes up a bounce that completely wrong-foots Antoine Dupont at the front of a line-out and scoots down the line and in from 25 metres out.

Extras from Ross Byrne and Ireland have more than a glimmer now...

    Tommy Bowe
Former Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

James Lowe missed two tackles last week against Wales and he missed the tackle on Dulin there. It's one of those tackles out wide you have to make.

Ireland will be really kicking themselves.

    Damian Penaud

    The knockout blow?

It is a instinctive late dart blind from Matthieu Jalibert that finds a way to Ireland's unguarded chin.

The fly-half flings a long mis-pass to Brice Dulin. James Lowe has bet the house on taking man and ball, but is a little late on the scene. A little matador step sideways from Dulin sends Lowe flying out of the equation.

Dulini feeds Damian Penaud and the wing stretches into the corner.

    No conversion...

    Ireland 3-10 France

Nice from Keith Earls, who cuts inside some France cover, but Jamison Gibson-Park spills from the base of the breakdown and suddenly France are swarming forward.

The ball bobbles away from James Lowe and Gabin Villiere very nearly flicks an offload inside to a blue hand.

Had that stuck it would have been try time.

Ross Byrne is on at stand-off for Billy Burns for Ireland. Didn't see whether that was a temporary change or a permanent switch...

    Ireland 3-10 France

Nice from James Lowe. His kicking game as been effective. With Ireland struggling to make inroads around halfway, he punts a good touch-finder into the France 22m to put the pressure on hooker Julien Marchand's throw.

    Tommy Bowe
Former Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It looks so easy for France. They are getting over the gainline too easily and have so many players flooding through, but thankfully the final pass out wide is not quite sticking. If they do stick, it'll be a long 35 minutes for Ireland.

Antoine Dupont with a filthy no-look pass over his shoulder to Gregory Alldritt around the fringe. It is flashy, but not without purpose.

Mohammed Haouas is on Alldritt's shoulder and bundles on to punch a hole and put Ireland on the back foot.

  19. Blood replacements after Healy-Henderson clashpublished at 42 mins

    Ireland 3-10 France

Argh! That is a really nasty one.

Cian Healy and Iain Henderson clash heads as they attempt a tag-team tackle on Gregory Alldritt.

Both split their brows and are off to be patched up. Ed Byrne and Ultan Dillane are on as blood replacements.

    Ireland 3-10 France

That could have been France under the posts and Ireland six feet under! A monstrous charge from hooker Julien Marchand with Hugo Keenan bravely throwing himself at the hooves to stop the Frenchman five out.

Blue shirts queuing up for the ball.

But second row Paul Willemse gets in the passing channel and the ball rebounds off his head and dead.
