    France 17-27 Wales

TMO Wayne Barnes is a busy man in this half.

He's been asked to look at a potential no-arms tackle from Wales flanker Justin Tipuric.

We've not been shown a replay but referee Luke Pearce says the decision is just a penalty for France.

Romain Ntamack will kick at goal, just to the right of the posts on the Welsh 22.

Very good by the officials - very clear. But a brilliant try by Wales from a lovely kick through. They have improved in every game

    France 17-27 Wales

France come charging back at Wales, with Gael Fickou carrying forcefully into the Welsh half.

There's still the best part of half an hour left in this game. There's a long way to go.

Converted try - France 17-27 Walespublished at 50 mins

    Josh Adams

Wales try?! We'll hear from the TMO Wayne Barnes again.

The on-field call from referee Luke Pearce is try.

It starts with a lovely deft kick by Justin Tipuric. You've got to love that from an openside flanker - what a player.

Chasing wing Josh Adams kicks on, Tomos Williams gathers on the floor and offloads to Adams.

Adams then plunges over the line, but is there a French hand under the ball?

It's a long deliberation for this one.

TMO Barnes says there's no "definitive" evidence to overrule Pearce's original decision.

    TRY AWARDED!

Dan Biggar converts and Wales now lead by 10 points.

  8. Replacement for Wales at scrum-halfpublished at 49 mins

    France 17-20 Wales

Gareth Davies launches another towering box-kick, and France full-back Brice Dulin knocks on again.

Line-out for Wales just inside the French half, and that is Davies' final contribution.

Tomos Williams comes on in his place.

  9. 'Ball carrying is much improved'published at 21:10 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    France 17-20 Wales

    Jonathan Davies
Former Wales international on BBC One

In the autumn Wales struggled with ball carrying. Now they are taking the ball very flat and really taking the game to France. Rees-Zammit is lightning, but he's also powerful.

What's really pleasing is the backs are getting stuck in just as much as the forwards. Adams is carrying, North is clearing, they're sharing the load.

That's another useful penalty for Wales.

France are on the attack but they undermine their own efforts by conceding a penalty for blocking.

Dan Biggar kicks to touch and Wales move from their 22 towards the halfway line.

  12. Penalty - France 17-20 Walespublished at 47 mins

    Dan Biggar

After a long advantage, Wales' attack is going nowhere so referee Luke Pearce whistles for the penalty.

Dan Biggar sensibly points to the posts and slots over an easy penalty.

    Wales back in front.

Shaun Edwards will have been talking to Ntamack at half-time, telling him he needs to win the physical battle. He also might have told him to keep the drop-goal up his sleeve, he's a big fan of the drop-goal.

One word rugby coaches love to use is accuracy.

Wales' has been spot on today: handling, clearing, set-piece.

They're into the French 22, with penalty advantage, going through the phases threateningly.

    France 17-17 Wales

Good spoiling work from Wales at a French line-out, but the hosts still retain possession despite an awkward bounce of the ball.

France send the ball high into the Parisian sky and Liam Williams rises majestically to catch it. Wonderful athleticism.

Wales then boot the ball high into the air, and Romain Ntamack knocks on inside his own half.

Sam Warburton said Wales would target France aerially, didn't he?

How did you spend that half-time break?

Lying down in a darkened room? Hooked up to oxygen?

In any case, we're off again as Romain Ntamack gets the second half started.

I'd like to see the referee blow the whistle a little more at the breakdown.

He's awarding the attacking team much more than defence, so the message to Wales is keep the ball.

  19. 'I can't get over how good this game is'published at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    HT: France 17-17 Wales

    Emyr Lewis
Former Wales flanker on BBC Radio Cymru

    It's a game and a half.

I just can't get over how good it is, Jonathan Davies and George North are running some beautiful angles.

Louis-Rees Zammit is coming off his wing and threatening defence. They look very dangerous with ball in hand.

By the way, it's worth reminding ourselves of a few of the permutations.

A draw would secure the Six Nations Championship for Wales.

A defeat with two losing bonus points would do so as well, as would one losing bonus point provided France do not claim five match points.

But of course Wales would rather make this all more straightforward and get the win which would seal the Grand Slam.
