So such fine margins in this first European club final over the next couple of days.

It's Montpellier who are the victors in the Challenge Cup this evening with more French glory to come tomorrow when La Rochelle face Toulouse in the Champions Cup final.

Leicester will return to Premiership action next weekend with a shot at still finishing in the top six.

In the meantime, thanks for being with us tonight and take care.

It leaves the Leicester project in a good place. Of course Steve Borthwick and his team would have wanted the silverware tonight.

But you have to take the positives. They have lost a Challenge Cup final by one point, they could have won the game, it could have gone either way.

The performance was good, they put in a good shift and they wouldn't have expected to be in that position at the start of the season.

Not long to go now until Montpellier can lift that trophy.

They're a thoroughly happy bunch it has to be said out there on the Twickenham turf, including Saracens fly-half Alex Lozowski among them.

Leicester players shake hands and exchange words with some familiar foes as they step back to give their opponents their moment.

Leicester hooker and captain Tom Youngs speaking to BT Sport:

"We haven't been in a final for eight years, but we got here and we feel like we've moved forward a lot.

"But we came here to win of course and I felt like everyone gave everything they had out there. We'll learn from this and we'll keep going.

"Everyone knows what we've been through in recent years as a club and there were some young boys out there tonight who will grow immensely from this experience.

"I just couldn't be prouder of how we've got here and it was great to hear a crowd tonight too, they were amazing."

"We tried to approach this one by playing with no fear and the forwards put in a great shift tonight to see us home."

What a game. You couldn't ask for more from a cup final.

Tigers players are strewn over the floor at Twickenham, that meant the world to them and they have just fallen short.

But's it's a massive step forward from where they started the season to the end of the season.

Some real grit shown there by Montpellier too in that performance after having two players sin-binned.

Their two tries from Vincent Rattez and Johannes Goosen plus the kicking of Benoit Paillaugue see them home.

    All over.

Montpellier win it by a point as they clinically close that one out in the final minutes.

Agony for Leicester as they are edged out by just a point, but Montpellier reclaim the trophy they won in 2016 and will qualify for the Champions Cup next season.

Lots and lots and lots of kick tennis.

Not for the purists this passage of play, but it is where we are in this final.

    Tight.

But Leicester are pinned for a knock-on after it looks like they'd pushed Montpellier off the ball inside their 22.
